Has anyone built a rifle or know of anyone has in cartridge this configuration. A 338 win mag
necked up to 9.3.I think this might be a good combination

Yes I've thought of this same case/bullet combo before and think it would be a stout performer.
I like light rifles and I believe the stout performance would come with stout recoil as well but should handle all North American game with ease and make a great showing as an African rifle as well.
Build one and let us know how it works out!

I just might do that. I have couple of 9.3 barrels and a mauser action.

Though this is an interesting wildcat, if I had the supplies you had, I would create a 9.3x62 Mauser or a 9.3x64 Brenneke. The Brenneke would probably get the nod, but the 9.3x62 is quite a bit more common. The Brenneke always seemed to me to be a most overlooked cartridge.

This wildcat exists as the 9.3 USA. I don't have one but do have the cartridge drawing/specs around here somewhere.

give serious consideration to the 9.3 X 375 Ruger as well.

Howdy Dave,
I have a Hot Rod of a wildcat kinda based on what you are thinking. Mine is a 375 Dakota necked down to 9.3 mm. or, 330 Dakota necked up to 9.3 mm. I am pushing a 250 gr. North Fork to almost 3100 fps. and grouping 5 into 1.5"@ 200 yds.
Thanks, Doug

While I am a pure rookie at wildcats...I immediately thought of the 9.3x375Ruger possiblity when I saw a line drawing of the Ruger case last year ...looks to me like this is a common sense no brainer...and I am "saving" a well used early 90's M70 CRF SS/syn 300 Winnie for just such a project. However the 9.3x338WMg might be a possible easy alternative too ...and brass would certainly be plentiful and inexpensive.
Wonder if this 9.3x338WMg would equal the Brenneke's performance? I also think somewhere in this Mo Powah curve you could run out of 9.3 bullets that will hang together at max velocities except for the solid copper stuff.

I am do not plan on going crazy with velocity.
I want more than the 9.3X62 with out going to the brenneke ammo. This ammo would be cheap to make and should be a big improvement in velocity

If I was going to do a 9.3mm I would base it off the .375RUM case.

The .338 case is a very good case to do about anything with and I have thought over the years of building just such a wildcat, but the 9.3x62 is such a great round that I never got around to it and the 9.3x64 is even better and no belt..I say no belt because some have decided in there little minds that a belt is a disaster..I never considered the belt a minus and surly the old .375 has proved that over the last couple of hundred years..

dave, I too thought of that chambering, having a .30-338 and a couple of .338 win mags with lots of brass around. After some serious considerations I went to the 9.3 x 64 Brenn round-still in the makings but will be soon ready for reloading. No beltSmiler--lets see that rifle when you are done with your shot groups/ load data.

Everbody thank you for all the info. It is very interesting. I never thought this topic would stir up such interest.
One more question. Does anybody know who might
have a reamer or be able to rechamber a 9.3X62 to this 9.3 Whatchamacallit.

Call it a "belted 9.3 x 64" "Magnum" "Rimless" "Express" ( Optional)"

The 9.3 x 64 case can be made by turning off the belt of a .458 Win case ...

so the x 64 case is in volume capacity the same as a "standard" H & H Belted mag case.

a 9.3 x 68 or .375 x 68 - THAT would be an Idea!
