Does anyone have any experience with this bullet in a 308 Win or 30-06? 2,800-3,000 fps. A couple reviews I read mentioned that it over-expands, thus reducing penetration. But hey, internet.?.?.? Perry

40-60% seems awfully light for a bonded bullet. Sierra game kings yield that. Thanks for the info! Perry

My experience with the Interbond in 308 was not so good. Albeit, the shots were within 100 yards, the bullet didn't seem to open up with 308 velocities. Penciled in and out. Little to no blood, but found the 3-4 deer within 100 yards. Switched to SSTs and Ballistic tips and no longer a problem. Auburn University BS '09, DVM '17

I use the Hornady 150 gr. Interlocks in my Savage 99F for deer, both Mule Deer and Whitetail, probably more than any other bullet, and have used them on elk, although the 180 gr. Rem corelokt I use on occasion as that's what I had in my hands at the time worked well, but deer ran a bit further. Ive used the Hornady in my 30-06 on many deer..Its just a damn fine deer bullet, and a borderline elk combo, and on the good side of borderline. This was early on.. Today my best elk round in the 99 for elk is the 165 gr. Nosler at 2650 to 2700 fps. in the .308..The 150 Horn Ingerlock still holds its no.1 spot for deer..and if 40 to 60% won't work on deer I'll eat my hat..every bullet need not be a pretty muchroom, that's a brain wash, and fact is on deer that less expansion will give you less instant kills by a long shot. Perhaps not so on elk.. If you can't live with a 40 to 60% recovery in a bullet, then slow the bullet down to 2700 FPS. or use a tougher bullet and increase your tracking skills. BTW Ive never used a Hornday "bonded core" Ive only used the old Hornady "Interlock" and that's not a bonded core, may be some miscomseption here..The Interlock is a fine bullet that works everytime it seems to me and Ive used many of them..I see a post that claims 2" exit holes but claims no blood trails, that is a contradictory statement IMO.. 2 inch exit holes leave blood trails, end of story.. I've used them in my 308 Win @2900fps.I killed four deer with them. One was DRT just under the spine, the other three high lung shots went from 60-100yds.I personally think they are a little hard for deer.I get a silver dollar size exit hole, but like most bonded bullets I've shot deer with, they don't seem to give as good of blood trails as cup and core bullets.A bullet I highly recommend is the 168gr Nosler Ballistic Tip.I had excellent results with that bullet.

Baldhunter, If your not getting a blood trail with silver dollar exit holes, its not the bullet its your hitting the deer too high and the blood is going down into the body cavity its the law of gravity..and I see from your post your shots are on the high side...big exit holes and blood trails go hand in hand, and yes cup and core and ballistic tips tend to kill faster with massive expansion, whereas the new fad of bullets with pretty mushrooms depend more on expansion and should be used on elk etc, not so much on light bodied deer and antelope, unless your intent on saving etable meat and have at least some tracking skills..Not a bad idea btw.. Took the 180gr Ibond to Africa last spring. 3000fps (+-) out of my 300 H&H. Worked great from 10 to 400 yds on everything from Nyala (TX Heart shot at 10 yds) to Hartebeast at 400. Hartebeast was only animal that needed a 2d shot as the 1st was a little too far back, but hey, 400 yds is a long way. Only recovered 1 bullet from a Wildebeast,, 87% weight retention, shoulder shot at 200 yds. They are my "go to" in that rifle as they are slightly more accurate than the Acubond. No experience with the 150 gr version but they should be fine. Pancho, The 180 is prime bullet weitht for the 300 H&H and the 200 gr. NOsler is just as good, maybe a bit better... I love your choice of caliber, Iv shot a ton of PG and US game with the 300 H&H, and its still my all time favorite 30 magnum..Handloaded it walks with the big boy 300s... Im of the opinion that all bonded core bullets are the same, it was a positive change to a great bullet...but no better than the Nosler partition..
