Yes, but just for hogs.......
You can easily replace the trigger with a Timney trigger.

tu2 Good advice timney, CMT, etc or any of the drop ins will be a giant gain over the "mill. spec." tu2

I regularly call (and have killed tonnages) coyotes with my AR-15 but don't own a 10.
*Not quite what you asked. Sorry

I second what others said: Get a drop in Timney trigger and be happy!

Yes get one of the replacement triggers.
I have the first (modern) AR-10 built. AR stands for ArmaLite rifle. Not something else as the media says.
I have not hunted with it, although it is as accurate as a bolt action and would work fine. I just don't hunt with 308s. Too small.

Sucks for me. Used my larue 308 once and called it quits.

Loading and unloading is loud.

I don’t like driving around or climbing into a stand with a loaded round in chamber and safety unless it is a blaser or steyr cocking system.

What I have found is that a decent AR-10 or LR-308 will cost twice as much as a decent AR-15.

I guess the 7.62 platform is far behind the 5.56 in terms of the market, i.e., not enough demand for the 7.62.

Yup

It’s a complete pricing scheme. I don’t see anything to justify 2x production cost.

btw, from experience set of ONE -
anything under 3# will not reliably setoff rounds -- varies from 2% for reload, to 65% for milspec -

I don't use my AR .308 for hunting in Alaska. It is too heavy, and noisy to load, although shooting at a target at long range is fine Smiler

A bolt-action .338WM rifle is what I hunt with.

I find that a Ruger No. 1B is a lot lighter than a AR 10

I have a Armalite Carbine in 308. I took it deer hunting once and agree that it's a little on the loud side of things trying to chamber a round. I tried using the forward assist but it still requires a good tap that makes noise.

The carbine with the light weight barrel is lighter than the full length but it's still around 8lbs.
I used to know a guy that hunted with a 16" DPMS carbine in 308Win and had no complaints with it. Killed lots of deer and hogs with it. We had planned a hunt together in TX at his family's ranch but Cancer got a hold of him and he lost that battle.

The Christensen Arms CA-10 is a nice rig.

They are super light, because of their carbon fiber barrels. Under 8 lbs., with match triggers and MOA guaranteed.

Trouble is, they run around $3,300 retail.

But since you can't find them anywhere, when one comes up for sale, it goes for $4,000 plus.
