While persusing SAAMI I happened upon a submission, by Nosler, for a 36 Nosler!
It's a 9.3/.366! Boo-yeah!
Those fine gentlemen have a lot of class!

John Barsness said he talked to Nosler about the SAAMI drawings, their response was they submitted for 26, 27, 28, 30, 33, 35, 36 just in case.

However, googling 36 nosler brings up newly available reamers from PT&G and 4D....

It would make sense, to not directly compete against the 375 Ruger.

Doesn't seem too likely, but never say never. Nosler hasn't made a DG 48 yet, and the last American 366 didn't catch on at all (shame about that)

It is kind of funny that you bring this up. This past Sunday I e-mailed Nosler about the possibility of a .35/.358 Nosler. They sent a response yesterday.

A 35 Nosler has already been submitted to and approved by SAAMI. That being said, at this time I have no timetable for if/when Nosler will support the 35 Nosler with brass, ammunition and rifles.

I'd probably want one if they didn't have a rebated rim.

I'd probably want one if Nosler didn't majorly soup up their velocity claims for marketing purposes. What they advertise verses what their reloading data shows for Nosler rounds are not the same.

I would think the 36 Noslar would be a little bit more than the 9.3x64 Brennkee (sp). Thus, being a great farily flat shooting cartridge.

But I have always wanted a 275 grain 358 bullet at 2700 plus fps. I always pictured such a cartridges as America's 375. That is the reason I never owned a 358 rifle. Simply, did not see the use of a 358 with 225 and less bullets at most 2500 fps. The only 35 cartidge s that made my wish list that I know that made my wish list was the old 35 GH mag, 35 Newton, and not to be found 35 STW.

Goooolly! About as necessary as tits on a bore hog. It'll be as hard to get brass in 7 years as it is now for many of the short magnums . Another short term emotional marketing gimmick and than so-long and good bye. roger

No love for the 358 Norma Mag or 358 STA?

I am under the impression that the 358 STA and 358 STW are the same cartridge. Yes, I love the idea. Farily long and straight cartidge that makes my wish list. But, it is not to be found.

Similar with the 358 Norma. That round was somewhat more popular, but was long gone from the scene by the time I was born. I prefer the 358 STW a bit more because of its appearance, and I have seen a load or two with 275 grain bullets. The 358 Norma being basically the same case can do what I want.

So, yes I love them. Yet, they are solid rounds that are not to be found.

I have shot two custom .358 STA's for several years. It stands for Shooting Time Alaskan. The STW does not exist and was probably someones take on the STA. Layne Simpson thought it up based on the 8mm Remington case necked up to .358. A fantastic round that pushs a 250 Bullet 3000 fps and 270 grain North Fork 2850-2900 fps. I have used mine in Colorado for Elk, Africa for plains game, Alaska and Canada for game when I am in Big Bear country. When that big bullet hits something gives. My rifles both have Muzzle breaks, if you don't like noise or recoil stay on the porch. Good shooting.

Mr. P.hurley: Yes, the Layne's cartidge is the cartridge I am referring to as well. I know I have seen it in print as the 358 STW (shooting times western), but I do not dispute a word you posted.

Here in SA the 358 Norma seems likely to work woth our powders amd if you must 300 Win Mag and 338 Win Mag brass is quite available. Thats my choice.

338 RUM seems to be the most logical parent case. I've procured two barrels and an action.
I already have a M98, enroute is a brand new 700.
That's right, 2 36 Nosler rifles.

As I have posted before, common sense and myself parted company a long ways back.
