Has anyone seen any of these or heard anything about them? Little exists on the Ithaca website. They have a few pictures showing different configurations and this is part of the description (my emphasis added):
quote:
Each Rifle consists of a 4340 chromoly steel billet receiver, a 4140 single piece billet nonwelded bolt, and a competition grade barrel and trigger.

Every action is produced in-house by Ithaca Precision utilizing the state-of-the-art CNC machining equipment with the receiver bolt
raceway wire EDM’d for ultimate precision.

Each competition barrel is mated to the action by experienced craftsmen committed to excellence. The result of this attention to detail produces ½ MOA accuracy or better .

All of these rifles are completely customizable with countless variations based on which of our many options you choose. Why take your rifle to a gunsmith for customization when you can get the gun you want straight from our factory?
Before I get excited and call them it would be nice to hear from someone who tried one out.

What I'm wondering is whether this is just hype or if we really have a USA factory willing to build a "bespoke" rifle.

I had no idea that someone had bought the Ithaca name and was producing firearms under that brand. No longer in Ithaca, NY, I see they now list their address as Sandusky, OH.

Not that it is relevant, but the last Ithaca-branded centerfires were produced by Tikka and were essentially identical to rifles sold under Tikka's own name at the time. This was before Tikka was purchased by Beretta and merged with Sako. The Tikka's were (and are) very good rifles. Wonder if Ithaca bought some rights to the Tikka design for this new rifle, or if it is original to the new Ithaca company?

It doesn't look like a Tikka to me. The bolt shroud is different, it has a floorplate release in the trigger guard, and the receiver looks like a round tube.

The company was controlled by the Smith family until 1967, when it was sold to a Colorado company, Jerry Baldritch & Asso., which later, after buying 10X Clothing, Atlantic Dinghy, and American Fiberglass, became General Recreation, Inc. and in 1971(approx.) made a public stock offering on the NYSE. General Recreation encountered financial problems in the late 1970s, selling off all its subsidiaries except Ithaca Gun. After a failed attempt to move manufacturing to Colorado, it filed for Chapter 11 reorganization in December 1978, shuttering the plant on December 20 for several months.[14] General Recreation filed for bankruptcy a second time in September 1985.[15]

In 1987, new owners Ithaca Acquisition, Inc. moved manufacturing to King Ferry, New York. In 2005, it received a $150,000 development loan from Cayuga County,[16] and in May of that year moved to larger facilities in Auburn.[17] After being unable to facilitate an operational manufacturing facility in Auburn, the owners sold all of Ithaca's assets, trademarks, and manufacturing rights to the Marshalls from Upper Sandusky, Ohio. The physical goods were relocated to Floyd Marshall's 30+ years tool and die shop where all prints, programs, and processing were converted to CNC machine tools. Unable to secure state or local financing assistance with the startup conversion, the Marshalls were forced to sell the company in the best interest of the company's name and its people.[18] Dave Dlubak purchased the company in June 2007, and it continues to operate in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. It has undergone a revamp with newer manufacturing equipment, and still employs many of the people from Floyd Marshall's original staff.

Thanks, jeffeosso. I was unaware of the Ohio move and the multiple sales of the company.

I found this interesting little video. It was published on Jul 6, 2017 and describes the new company, the CNC tooling, and some new products:

I watched the entire video that Grenadier posted and did some reading about Ithaca in other sources.
I can't find much info about their rifles but I am very impressed with their philosophy.
Looks like they are hell bent on making a great product right here in America and I have a lot of respect for that.
