AkhutrThanks All.
My partner was behind me watching and he said he thought the first shot was the heart shot, pass through. The bull took off and I continued to shoot. Three more hits, one neck in front of shoulder, pass through, shoulder blade, found under off hide, quartering found in hind quarter, then he turned even more towards me. Final shot into chest slightly angled, inside shoulder, neck, found under hide opposite side. Dropped instantly then. I always continue to shoot until I know they're down for good regardless of where I think they're hit.
The rifle is a Rem 700 AWR, 300 RUM, I bedded it, free floated the barrel, installed a high speed firing pin, Jewel trigger, topped with a 2.5-10 Leupold LPS.
Shoots E Tips into .5 to .6 MOA with Retumbo and Fed 215M.
Shooting sticks are Mossback Shooting Tripod.

boom stickBullets did well. What do you estimate the impact velocity was?
That was a tough moose.

AkhutrHe only moved about 35-40 yards from the first shot to the last. I didn't connect with major bone structure (clipped a should blade)or he wouldn.t have went that far.
Impact valocity was just over 2600 fps.

One more time: "The 6.5x55 is the 243Win of swedish moose hunting" it is the smallest LEGAL cartridge.
while "popular" in sweden for moose hunting it's only #1 because the other cartridges used for the purpose don't individually outnumber the 6.5x55 users.
While the 6.5x55 is still the most popular
chambering the most popular
bore size is a 30caliber, typically chambered for a 30-06 or 300mag.
