I have a Remington 700 L/H and love the rifle except the safety. It does not lock the bolt closed and when carrying the rifle on the sling the bolt inadvertenly opens several times per hunting day. Does anyone have experience with the Gentry 3 position safety that Midway sells?
Thanks and Regards, Keith

I've had a Gentry safety installed on 2 Mausers a 96 and a 98 and they are great safeties. I purchased both from Gentry and had my gunsmith install them. I doubt that their safety for the remington could be any different. Brownell's usually stocks them. I'm not sure what has happened with Gentry since the father past away but the son was stepping up last time I heard.

I have it and it works well, but needs gunsmith installation and removing of the old safety / or putting a new trigger inside. I like that one much, but it does not work such smooth like the 3-pS on my Ruger for example...

the 3 position safety that NULA uses on their rifles works on a m700. Since they make a LH rifle I assume thsy also sell a LH safety.

Don't waste your money on that junk. Put it where it will give you a quality safety; go with the Ed LaPour unit and don't look back. Or, you could have the safety lever on your current rifle either modified or replaced with the older style that locks the bolt down.

Jim is 100% correct. Take a look at the photos in this link at the work Jim and Ed LaPour did on my 700.
