These have a four shot magazine I understand. Does this mean I can put five into the magazine and then close the bolt taking that top, fifth, cartridge into the chamber leaving me the four in the magazine?

Or is it literally four in the magazine and no room to put one on top at all? So I can never actually have one ion the barrel and four in the magazine?

Thank you. I had wondered if it meant that I could only get four in meaning 3 + 1 in effect.

Four down, depress top round and slide bolt forward 1", then drop #5 into the chamber & lock bolt shut.......

Most of my rifles have Mauser-type claw extractors like yours. By just putting a round in the chamber and slamming tho bolt home, you will force the extractor to slip over the extractor groove. While most rifles will probably put up with this whithout protest, I for one am somewhat uncomfortable with the practice. When I load my rifles to full capacity, i push the round halfway into the chamber, and then press the case head down a little. This allows it to slip under the extractor, instead of forcing the extractor over. Also, this practice is easier on your case rims.

Good shootin!
