30 T/C is a rimless 308 Marlin Express.

analog_peninsulaWhat an amazing re-invention of the .300 Savage.

I'm not a gambler, so I figured with your money it's still not gambling!

I wonder if there will be a difference in the SAAMI maximum pressure specs?
If it is as you say, rimmed and rimless versions of the same cartridge, then vastly different pressure specs is a special and perhaps unique problem. Certanly not idiot or lawyer proof.
I know the classic CIP European cartridges have different specs, but they were not established in the USA, and not in modern times. Rimmed and rimless cartridges like the 6.5x57(R), 7x57(R), 8x57(R) 9.3x64(R) 7x65(R), etc.
I think there are two problem factors. There are more idiots and more lawyers in the world today.
Therefore, MR. 366 Torque, perhaps you need to qualify your bet. are you talking about SAAMI specs in all respects, except the rim? I propose to you that if the max pressure is greatly different, then the two cartridges are not sufficiently the same, regardless of the outside deminsions of the cartridge.
You see how this argument goes ----?

I apologize boom, I'm in a goofy mood today.

6.5BRIF I recall correctly, the 30TC has a shoulder that is sharper and farther forward, though Hornady has a hand in both it and the Marlin exp. round.
I do not think they are near the same, more than just rim changes. I looked at both together, side by side.

Good thing I didn't bet my own money!!

KabluewyI never met a Walmart Greeter that I didn't like. I always thought they were retired people who were independently wealthy, and they just volunteered for the job for fun and smiles.
So, now I'll bet 366 Torque's money that Hornady isn't foolish enough to make the 30TC cartridge so that some bubba can fit it into a chamber of the 308 Marlin. I think the two cartridges have a significntly different operating pressure.
Anyway, it's fun to speculate, and bet with someone elses money.
It will be interesting to learn the facts on this.

Sure, but you won't get very far. I have to save up just to be poor!

jstevensThe .30 TC is definitely a cartridge nobody was looking for. Surely someone could have come up with something better than that.

TomboI can't figure out the need for a group of cartridges so similar...300 savage, 30 T/C, 308, 308 Marlin express....so lemme guess... 243 T/C,6.5 T/C, 7MM T/C, 338 T/C, 358 T/C and on and on and on....sheesh!
