I was told by a guy looking at my old model 77 Ruger in 250 Savage that Ruger had dropped all the wsm calibers. The wsm calibers did not do as good as others in the Rugers and Ruger did not want to pay further Royalties from chambering wsm rifles.I do want to find a 325 wsm and keep it in the box as a colloctors piece if they actually made one.He also said Bill Ruger Jr was kicked off of the board of Ruger Firearms .I hope that Ruger makes the right decisions with its company.I see the wsm rifles disapearing in less than 5 years or less without Winchester.I was wondering if anyone else had heard this. The guy I talked to lives 20 miles from Ruger and is a very well known Ruger collector.

I noticed announcements of another hi-level official that was also leaving office at the same time.....it seemed too much of a coincidence. Anyone know what turmoil is happening in the absense of the founder? /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." The 250-3000 is a Ruger 77 prewarning made in 1974 a round bolt. Its like new and I dont know if it was shot or not.Ruger for the first time did make a profit.I wonder if they even made any wsms.I heard Bill Ruger jr didnt care about the firearm business.I hope Ruger can get the leadership it needs to straighten up the ship and sail right.I hope the wsms disapear as much trouble as they caused.

Its the quality control that suffered thats why some big bore rsms didnt feed right and alot of the 350 rem mags in the Ruger 77 Mark II didnt work good or shoot right. Its a mess that needs straightening up asap.I dont want Ruger of all companies to go under.Alot of people high up and at Remington tell me Remington is right after Winchester to go out of business.

I can't speak for Ruger's quality lately but at least from my perspective, they were doing BETTER under the new leadership. I would just point to the newer models with the design features they should have had a long time ago. Another good move was the addition of the custom shop instead of letting everyone else under the sun tweak Ruger's guns and making big money doing it. As to the quality though, my last purchases have all been rifles and Ruger's name was never on the short list of wants. Their barrels have been hit or miss (no pun intended) for a long time now. This situation far preceded Bill Sr's death. Gabe Gabe Pa to three sons Sambone 5 Catcher 3 Heebies 1 Husband to one wife the Cluck

Just picked up a new Ruger 77 in 257 Roberts last week. Only shot a few, but wood was very nice, bluing was excellent, fit and overall finish very nice, feeds smoothly, and appears to be a 1" or less gun out of the box. I have no complaints. Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum

Wasn't it the WSM's that Rick Jamison won the law suit over and the company's were going to have to pay him to use them? You could be watching the death of the WSM?

That might very well be but their website still shows rifles in 270 and 300 WSM....but many companies don't maintain their website religiously. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." BFaucet.....As a former manager in a large American corporation I can readily assure folks that many of these (so called) "retirements" have more sugar coating than an entire box of frosted flakes. Among the telling keys is who actually announces the retirement.....does one make his own announcement or is it announced by someone else. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." The guy who lived by the plant said that Bill Ruger Jr didnt care about the quality control or about anything but making money.I know Ruger dropped the Remington Short mags but I had not heard about the short mags till yesturday.I wonder if its from the rick jamison royalities lawsuit. He has done more damage to the firearms industry than any other antigun politician could ever do.I hope Ruger can keep making the rifles that I like so much.It looks like Remington will rely of forgein made guns and will probally quit making the ones made here.

All I can say it that if Ruger is dropping the WSM's they are making a mistake. The WSM future is great for the .270 and many people will be buying it when the public becomes aware of how good it is. Good shooting. phurley

Rugers M77 quality has been dogshit for the last four years. I've seen plenty that misfire, over the past few years. Their service really sucks. You have to send their product back at least twice to get it eventually fixed. Bill Ruger sr. was the drive and direction behind the company. Without him,the company will lag. I don't see Remington going under anytime soon.

It's called the Ruger Studio of Art and Decoration. To my understanding, it's mostly about providing a factory sponsored engraving service for Ruger's guns. However they do offer wood upgrades and checkering. This is the link: ruger studio Gabe

I served under Jim Service (he was Captain of the ship) on board the USS INdependence CV-62 back in the late 70s. WE nicknamed him "The Snake". He was one of the coolest guys you'd ever want to meet. He also participated in quite a few of those Columbia University School of Journalism Roundtable Discussions you used to see on public TV. Quite a guy!!!!!
