A guy is selling this rifle. It's a Husqvarna Vapenfabriks model AB in 30.06 He claims it was made in 1946. Belgium made. Factory muzzle break. He said it was his grandfather,his fathers and now his. I cannot find any info on a Brake on this gun? Is it even possible? Scope is included. How much is it worth?

Its magna-ported, a process developed around 1965 for reducing barrel flip in firearms. It uses E.D.M. to achieve the accurate porting of the muzzle. This process would not have been available in the '40s.

Well the safety has been changed to a Buehler. I doubt if that porting was original to the gun; why would anyone port a medium weight 30-06 in the first place also comes to mind.

What are the particulars of that scope base?

It is probably a $500 tops gun and may not bring that.

Whatever the method, porting wasn't offered on 1946 Husqvarna rifles.

Only the action would be Belgian. Husqvarna bought FN actions for a short while but the rifles were completed in Sweden. Also, FN had a similar safety at some point in production but none of the Husqvarna rifles were fitted with them.

It's been machine polished to a high luster and hot blued. That isn't correct for that period Husqvarna production. My guess is the grandfather or father had the scope and safety work done at the same time as the Magna-Porting (or copy thereof) and the refinishing of the metal and possibly the stock. It's all nicely done but it doesn't add anything to the normal value of that model rifle. I agree with Jeffe... $400 to $425 if the scope comes with it.

If you look at the porting really closely, the ports near the muzzle are the typical trapezoidal shape of Magna-Ports But the rear ones are round-ended and shorter. I think that was two different processes done at different times.

Like maybe the gun wasn't quite loud enough after the first set so he had another set done with a mill closer to his ears....

The two ports look exactly like the two ports shown on the example posted on the Magna Port Website. I stole this from their site.

Sure do! On my 500 Linebaugh both sets were trapezoidal.
