Has anyone seen the video on youtube showing a new round that Hornady is going to introduce in November. It looks to me like this could be the 375 Ruger necked down to .308. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcjeV4MRB-I

The problem I see with some of these hornady/ruger ventures is that about 10 years down the road you will very likely have trouble getting brass because of the lack of popularity. Seems like they keep coming up with calibers that are so close to other popular casings that they are a non issue and a non seller.

"promises to be the most significant revolution in ammunition since smokeless powder" Now THAT is marketing hype.

Yep, time for the boys in marketing to try some decaf! ![]()

I thought they would probably bring out a .308, .338 etc. based on the 375 ruger soon after it's release. Instead they went with another wsm type cart for some reason. If it is a 308 on the 375 ruger, would it be comparable to a 300 weatherby?

Yes, true, except it will function in a standard length action! That's worth something for us Mauser lovers.

Beltless 308 that is comparable to a 300 Weatherby in a standard length action. Sounds like a good cart to me. And lord knows we don't have enough choices in .308 right now. ![]()

This cartridge and a companion in .338 bore would be the best BC rounds ever produced and I would buy a .300 Ruger-Hornady and maybe a .338 even tho' I have five superb .338WMs at present. They "should" have done these first with the .375 and .416 Rugers and THEN a 7mm, .270 and .264 on the RCM case; THAT would have been THE best lineup of practical rounds yet, IMHO.

I agree! Why not instead look at a commercial standard version of the 6.5-06 for just one? It's simple, not flashy...and I think a lot would want it as being almost a "better" 270 Winchester in ALL respects. Especially with that long 160 grain "pencil" bullet.

Personaly, I have had enough of the hyper velocity stuff. If I can't kill it with a 30.06 the answer is more bullet ,not more velocity. I worry about the casual hunter and shooter who buys some 3500 fps rifle and a balistic reticle scope , and shoots at game at some extream distance thinks he missed and does not follow up his shot. It seems like I see way more wounded deer when I am elk hunting than i used to ...tj3006 freedom1st

I believe your referring to the 300 RCM, that is no secret, it has been in the works for at least a year now, I was reading about it last winter.

Hornady Makes some fine ammo but like what was already said brass will be hard to come by down the road. Thats why I stock up on brass as soon as I purchas a new rifle. So that leaves me out.

Geez I think that Hornady has brought out a number of great new products in recent years, 17HMR, Leverevolution ammo, 375 Ruger. These guys are on a good roll, why not keep it going? FS

Yeah, true, and their new dangerous game bullets seem to be performing well at about half the price of Federal's stuff, but I'm a little curious about another 30 caliber magnum. I have to go along with kraky on that.
