I have my stainless Weathrby 30-378,My stainless Browning BLR 270 WSM,and my Winchester model 1895 405 wcf.I have always been a Brett Farve fan so I would like to add a 4th rifle to the mix to make it complete. What would make the best Brand rifle to make a 35 Whelen out of?

Who's Brett Farve?

In a local gunshop yesterday, and they tell me that the Remington XCR is available in 35 Whelen (and not the CDL as their catalogue states). I'm about 90% decided on ordering one.

Mine is on a Savage 110 left hand action with 1:12 twist. It shoots all bullets well with very little load tinkering. The best action would be any 30-06 sized action youfind acceptable.

I can only find the 35 whelen listed in the CDL from remington.

I have actually seen the CDL in 35 whelen. So I know they do make it in that model.

The XCR would be good for the 35 Whelen though.

I too, have handled a CDL in a Whelen, local shop had two, one left.

I built my Whelen on a 700 action with a stainless barrel in an HS stock...works well.

Just one of the finest QB's there is. Of course, I always liked the Broncos, and John ?
what's his name (ha,ha).

As for the 35Whelen, check out the Winchester Featherweight Classic in stainless steel. Install a 35cal. barrel with 1:12 or 1:14 twist, mount a Leupold VXIII 1.5-5x scope, and you're set.

I can only hope my gunshop is correct about the Whelen in the XCR. They were on the phone to the importer at the time, but that probably doesn't mean much...

As for Brett Favre. What's a quarterback? Must be some strange sport that you yanks follow.

How about forget the Mauser and work with a stainless 700. If you use the same barrel and stock the gun built on a long 700 will be almost a half pound lighter than a M98.

My Whelen is on amauser 98, No Complaints, i used the Adams an bennet kit from moidway. I think The barrel is on sale for 89.00.
I have a springfield I might make another whelan on, seems like thats the classic one, but a model 70 classic would be pleasing too. i would opt for a blue one myself, but to each there own...tj3006
