Yes, Jack O'Connor would not need to sell a 270 for pronghorns. The best compromise now are the LRX bullets, 129 grains in .277" and either 145 or 168 grains in .284". Stability and accuracy would be decisive for the particular rifle.
Glad to hear you mention the .416"s. Great calibre and great bullet in the 350 TTSX. I run both 350TSX and 350TTSX hot, 2800fps, and find that my 416s clean up fairly easily. The .444BC TTSX makes the .416 an ultimate allaround and longrange rifle for Africa. +-+-+-+-+-+-+ "A well-rounded hunting battery might include: 500 AccRel Nyati, 416 Rigby or 416 Ruger, 375Ruger or 338WM, 308 or 270, 243, 223" -- Conserving creation, hunting the harvest.

Totally agree. I was hot for a 7RM until I just couldn't see the numbers to justify it. It doesn't really shine until you hit 160. 162 AMax is the best deal going for it. That being said, the 300WSM got my attention and I'm not planning to be disappointed. 200 NAB should should work well..
