When I actively shot an 06 it was the 180 Remington CoreLokt round nose bullet..used to WhiteTails in Northern Michigan...it was a one shot dropper...my favorite...

Rusty,
My favorite 30-06 load is a 180 gr. or 200 gr. Noslers with a case full of old surplus 4831, the stuff that O'connor touted..

I still have about 30 pounds of that stuff...It gets me near 2800 FPS with the 180 Noser, and 2700 FPS with the 200 gr. Nolser..I think Norma MRP will also get those velocities, but most of the newer stuff probably won't...but will come pretty close....Fed 210 primers and WW brass.

The more I use the 200 gr. Noslers the more impressed I become with them..They are a wonder bullet in my 06 and in my 300 H&H...

having to limit it to 150 grainers, I'd have to say Nosler Partition or Ballistic Tip. Speer Mag Tip, or a Barnes TSX....

Load would be 52.5 grains of IMR 4064...

Most accurate hunting load I've ever shot in at least five different rifles.

150 Grain Nosler Ballistic Tip over 59 grains IMR 4831. Not a barn burner, only 2,820 in my 700, but a one holer, and plenty fast for shots on the loooong side.

Been shooting it since the Ballistic Tips came out about 1980.

My dad told me once that if you're gonna kill a rattler with a chainsaw, use the top of the bar.

I have not loaded the 150, either. My
Springfield likes the 190 gr. Sierra
Gameking over a full charge of 4831. Not
max velocity, but really consistant.
