Ordered the CZ yesterday. I'll probably mount the old Leupold 4X on it to start, but will top it with a Leupold VIII or a Zeiss Conquest before going to Africa. Which power range would those of you with 9,3 experience recommend? There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

Zeiss or Kahles 1.5-6. Leupold 1.75-6. If you are going for PG only, then perhaps a 2.5-8.

%00grains beat me to it but I think the VXIII 1.75x6 is a perfect fit. The VXIII 2.5x8 is my favorite BG scope. LIFE IS NOT A SPECTATOR'S SPORT!

Thanks, gentlemen. Since money is an object, and because of the stellar service I have had from Leupold, I will probably go with the 1.75-6. There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

I agree completely with the choices mentioned (they are perfect in my book), but the fixed 4x Leupold should serve you very well. This was the first type of scope that I mounted on a 9.3x62 and it worked fantastically. Good luck and happy shooting.

Another vote for the Leupy. A 1.75-6x or 2.5-8x will be fine. Look through both of them and then decide. Just my 2c.

Any good scope in the 1,5-6x42 range. I have a Kahles. L

If you're considering the Leupold 2.5x8 check your ring spacing first. The tube length is a little short on that model. I would suggest a 3x9 Conquest with a German #4 reticle. I have that combo on my 9.3 and love it!

I too use a Kahles 1.5-6x42 and it´s perfect -the red dot is an added benefit.

The choices mentioned wil serve you well. In lowveld mopane the Leupold 1.5x5 has worked well and in more open terrain the 2.5x8 works like a champ for me. Welcome to the 9.3x62 club, you are going to really enjoy this rifle/cartridge combo.

I put a Leupold VX-II 1-4x 20mm scope on my CZ 550 American but 500grains has listed some excellent suggestions. -Bob F.

I put an old steel 4x weaver on my 9.3x62 and it is serving me well. But... I am going to replace it with a Bushnell Elite 3200 2-7x36. I've had good luck with the Elite 3200's. They will both be on Warne QR rings and the old 4x will be my back-up scope. Lance Lance Lance Larson Studio lancelarsonstudio.com

I agree with the leupold guys , but the ring sapcing could be an issue, The 1.75 X 6 is a little loner in the tube area than the 2.5X8. The 1.5X5 would fit for sure and is a hell of a scope ! An african classis,,,tj3006 freedom1st

Sheesh Bill... going to africa??? Heck I am happy with unlimited trips over to Klamath or Lakeview to shoot sage rats and two trips to Montana to shoot prairie dogs!.... I should get to meet you since you live in the local area.. Then I can tell everyone else I know, that I actually know someone locally who can afford to go to Africa.... Heck in Grants Pass, people go to Medford for the weekend to "get away from it all!"

4x Leupold is plenty. It's fast up close and can reach as far as the cartridge will. Okie John "The 30-06 works. Period." --Finn Aagaard

A 300 yard shot is no problemo with a 9,3x62. Unless you are in the woods or there is a chance to be attacked by dangerous game, I would much more have a 3-9 than a 1,5-6. With the latter, You will miss your upper 9 more than you will praise the bottom 1,5. Bent Fossdal Reiso 5685 Uggdal Norway

The Schmidt&Bender in 1.5-6x42 and 4x36 scopes with no;4 reticule have served me well with my 9.3s. ozhunter

I second these advices, get a scope with a nr 11 or nr 1 recticle or wit a illuminated dot/cross. A Ziess Diavaria 1,5-6x42 will give you both, short range both eyes open ability as well as 200+ meters I pick my shots ability, in all there great. Best regards Chris.

I have a Leupold 4X on my 9.3x62 CZ550 FS. Works great. It's really all you need. If you feel like spending a little money, get a pair of Talley rings for it. .

Besides the Leupold 2.5-8x another good scope to consider is the Leupold VX-II 2-7x 33mm obj. It's a little longer in the body than the 2.5-8x if the ring spacing is an issue. -Bob F.

One of the cutest looking scopes on a 9,3 x 62 is the Leupold VX3 2.5-8x36mm, but mounting on a K98 action is restricted by its short mount ring space of 5.1 inches. Its ideal for low mounting with its 36 mm objective, especially on a CZ550. The VX3 1.75-6x32mm is 5.4 inches. That is why I opted for the VX2 3-9x40mm that offers 5.6 inches mounting space, offering a bit more movement, as I do not like to stretch my neck to get a perfect circular view. The 3-9x is versatile for close range at 3x, general hunting at 6x and for shooting a fine group at the range a 9x makes it a bit easier. Chris

1.75-6 or 2.5-8 would be my choice. I own both and they are usually set around 4-5.

Any low powered scope with small objective lens will give you good field of view, and good eye relief, important in big game calibre rifles . I know you folks in the US like your Leupolds - I have one myself - however could I suggest a Nightforce NSX 1 - 4 x 24. It may be expensive, but is a quality product that will not fail you at the critical moment! Have a great trip to the dark continent! the nut behind the butt
