I'm pretty sure Lipsey's has had Tyler Gun Works do some color case hardening for them in the past. Not sure if they did these. I hope that the "select walnut" means that it has better wood than other limited runs.

I have not found these on Gunbroker so, maybe they aren't shipping yet?

9.15 lbs without scope is a little stout for my taste on a 30.06 , more like .338 weight.

I saw that rifle also on their website. I was initially interested in it, but I too was wondering about the weight. They said 'shipping weight' was 9.15 lbs. Does that mean rifle weight alone, or the box and all paraphernalia?

For about the same price as the Lipsey's Ruger Africans, I was disappointed that it did not have a black forend tip, open sights, barrel band sling swivel, etc. as the African has.

Those would have been nice to have.

I just looked up the 9.3x62 African on Lipsey's website. It says its shipping weight is 9.05lbs. Hopefully this rifle only weighs 7 or so lbs.

Keep in mind that if you buy from Lipskys its going to cost you a bundle. Buy from a dealer listed on their web page and get a big discount..

My recent Ruger no.1 fwt at Libskys was $1900 plus, not counting shipping..At my local gun store I got the gun for $1400 plus tax..

Mr. Atkinson,

That's not a bad price. I've been thinking of buying one of the No. 1 RSI's in 257 Roberts. Would like to handle one first although I never see one in a gun shop.

I strongly dislike Tyler Gunworks CCH. Might as well wave a Smokey cutting torch back and forth over the metal. I understand they do very nice work otherwise, but I’d rather use someone like Turnbull for CCH.

Matt,

Know that you mention it, I've read the same thing about their CCH. I don't think I'm going to buy this one.

It’s all about personal taste/preference. Google image Tyler gunworks CCH and have a look at their work. You might like it. I personally just happen to not.

honestly?
it's a classic-ish 30-06 with chemical colors on it -- i am certain it will appeal to some

no irons would be my biggest complaint on this as a package.

of course it's not what i'd want to spend my pesos on, as I already have a SS ruger 30-06, no irons but has an upgraded stock on it, near to hand -

I have no use for 22 inch barrel on a rifle. If you like it, you need not my permission.

CJ,
the Lipskys I bought two days ago was the latest run of a Ruger no. 1-A fwt with a 24 inch barrel in 250-3000. A run of 250 and sold out to 20 rifles left, so probably all sold by now...The were $1900 plus and at least $2000 by delivery...I bought mine at REds in Twin Falls for $1400 plus that totaled $1500..saved $500. so be aware..

As to the Ruger bolt guns, the only one I would buy is the African, its an awesome gun and the best thing since the pre 64 mod. 70 IMO..

If they do a run of Africans with CCH, I will buy it! The Africans are my favorite rifle. Have the 275 Rigby, 6.5x55 and 9.3x62. Still waiting for the 280AI to show up.
