I find myself nearing the end of my journey through life. I have a Manson 9.3 x 70 reamer. A blueprinted and opened up Winchester action, a cut-rifled #3 contour barrel (maybe Brux, I don't remember), a Laminated Winchester stock, Go and No Go gauges, 100 pieces of 9.3 x 70 brass ( you can also make brass out of 404 Jeffery brass), plenty of projectiles, and lots of powder). The barrel needs to be chambered, threaded and screwed into the receiver. I want to see if there is any interest before I take pictures and post it in classifieds.

Could you be more specific about the "Winchester action"? Pre- or post 64? CRF or PF?

Hi Guys, The action is a dreaded 1990s New Haven, But, Greg Tannel went through and blueprinted it so everything is tight, straight, and true with 8-40 holes for the scope mounts, Its bolt face is.545. It's the nicest CRF Winchester action I've ever held, the firing pin is bushed. Basically a full up accuracy job with single point recut receiver threads. TIR is 0.0002" everywhere on the receiver. Remember that scene in the Green Mile where the big black man says, "I'm tired boss, I'm tired." Ever since I came on board here in 2004, I've been stiff arming my chronic, debilitating disease. Maybe I have a couple years, maybe one, or less than that. Who knows. But it is time to get my projects into the right hands, etc. No disrespect to the pre' 64 Winchester, but it's just another action. They all need to be worked over so everything is concentric, or perfectly normal (perpendicular). Threads almost always benefit from single point rethreading. After that, you have a stress free shooting machine

I had an enquiry, and thought my reply might be of some interest. The bolt face was opened up from .532" diameter to .545". These rifles are able to handle the 300 Remington Magnum, essentially a necked down 404 Jeffery (10.75x73mm Mauser), with a slightly rebated rim. Many Winchester long Magnum rifles have been converted to 404 Jeffery, and the Dakota line of cartridges. So the bolt face opening is slight, and safe. The factory bottom metal is fine for the 404 Jeffery, Dakota, and 9.3 x 70 cartridges. I have the original Aluminum bottom metal, and also have a PT&G (Pacific Tool and Gauge) all steel bottom metal set. Feeding. I have a 300 RUM magazine box, and follower for the Jeffery derived cartridges. Some people say the .375 H&H/416 Rem Mag/7mm STW followers work better than the 300 RUM follower. I have both types of follower. Feeding is checked when the barrel is chambered, and screwed into the receiver. Since these rifles feed 300 Rum cartridges just fine, the 9.3 x 70 should feed quite smoothly. If it doesn't, I or my widow would buy the rifle back. The brass is, I believe made by MEN in Germany. It is Head stamped: 9.3x70 Expert I hope this helps,

Thanks, I'll gather them up and take pictures of all the components after the weekend. This is a fine rifle for deer through dangerous game near and far, without dislocating your shoulder. The feeling of dread only comes when I can feel the slope getting steeper.
