Since this thread seems to be denegrating into useless personal attacks I'll offer a summation of whats been said and maybe we can move on. The reason the 300 WSM is so good is that it is a slightly improved version of an excellent cartridge. The difference between the 2 is so small that you should pick the rifle you want in either cartridge and whichever you pick will perform admirably..........DJ

Jeez, If I'd have known this subject would have caused this much heat I would have snuck out quietly and bought a 300 H&H !! However, one learns from other peoples opinions .

Hey MLG, Congratulations on the rifle. I'd guess by now you have piles of shot up targets all over the place. So how is that NON-Made in the USA old "Model T" shooting?

Don Martin (aka Savage 99), no one is insulting you... you're capable of that all by yourself. Like the proverbial priest dispensing marital advice you should stick to what you know not what you've heard... it's really embarassing for a man your age.

I am with JOHAN, if Winchester would have just released the 30-338 (like they were suppose to), none of this arguing would be nessesary! All joking aside allen is right on this one. After 41 Years the .300 win mag. has surely proven itself in the field, on the bench, etc. Percieved flaws ( ??) and all, it's still one of the best big 30's we have for the average shooter.
