Read and heard a lot about the Blaser R93 over the years. All kinds of reports out there, seems it's either a love or hate relationship, with the haters never having one or using one. I remained neutral since their intro in '93. I must say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the Blaser is high tech and though it looks and feels great, they just aren't a Sauer or Steyr. Not a bad thing, just different.

Well I have joined the fraternity of R93 brothers, and must say I am well pleased, they shoot great. I haven't had mine very long, under 30 days, and have confirmed it is "minute of pork" Cool A keeper, Waidmannsheil, Dom.

Every Blaser I have shot has been very accurate right out of the box. Congratulations on the new rifle and the pig.

Go over to BlaserPro and you'll find a lot of Blaser shooters with many stories of their Blaser use.

Just be ready to duck here - You are correct! It is a love or hate relationship with the R93.

Congrats with the new rifle. All my barrels and calibers are the most accurate out of the box rifles I have ever shot.

And the BEST rifle for a lefty that wants to shoot more than a '06, 270 or one of the WSMs.

I own 2 Blaser R93 platforms with 6 barrels, from .222 through .30-06. I've never shot a better rifle. +1 on blaserpro.com. The guys there are great and there's lots of good information shared there.

Thanks, I'll have to check out the Blaserpro. Have to go on a Blaser diet, I'm down a few bucks as I've now got the .243 and .300 WM barrels to boot, then comes scopes and the mounts, system is really great. For a system to change barrels it is fantastic, no sighting in between barrel changes. Cool

I don't hate Blasers, I know that they are very well made, with some really clever technical innovations. They are simply terribly overpriced here, since the basic R93 wood stock model, non mag, costs at least 2700€/3500$. IMO, that kind of price do not correspond to any sort of craftmanship in manufacturing, since they are made by CNC machines, and even I could be able to assemble them; I would certainly buy one for 30-40% less. Furthermore Blasers have become a sort of status symbol for many snob hunters; I know a couple of them that are complete idiots.

Anyway, I don't want to offence or criticize; it's only my personal opinion sofa and nothing is directly referred to anybody here.

I have two safes full of rifles and a large hidey hole that is full as well. But all I ever take to the woods is my R93s. They just shoot well and work well.I have accumulated over 18 Blaser barrels and have two frames and in march my BBF 97 in 20 gage/6.5X55 will be here.As an over the road truck driver I do not consider myself a snob hunter, my usual quarry is whitetail deer. I just like Blasers. Most negative comments about Blasers come from non Blaser owners and have little value. I think they are overpriced but so is diesel fuel, you can bitch about it all you want but the bottum line is you just have to get used to paying for the things you want.

I have 3 Professional receivers and 5 barrels and hunt with mine literally EVERY DAY. I own other guns too, but like Ron said, the only ones that ever see any field work are the Blasers.

I will warn you that the BlaserPro members are a bunch of great guys, but they are overall a boring lot. There is one exception though. There is a crazy SOB that calls himself "corjack", and he is just not right. Eeker

Ilove mine. The Jackal was taken with my R 93 with the 375 H&H Mag. barrel on it.

I was a little concerned about how recoil would be in a relatively light rifle. I had considered a muzzle brake but went with the Kick Stop instead. I doubt I could find a softer shooting and accurate 375 H&H Mag.

Actually I'm unsure of the manufacturer of the base, but it's specific for an R93. Can be easily removed with an Allen wrench, and scope put on, or vice versa. Glad to see a few R93 Brothers here Smiler

"The Blaser Brothers" I guess that makes us a bit like "The Blues Brothers" except that none of us can afford a car.

What are we going to do when those rednecks start chasing us in their RV as we are going to be at a disadvantage without the car!

I am extremely interested in that mount for a Docter sight on the Blaser. Can you provide any more information? Manufacturer? Where you bought it? I've searched the web and can't find anything.

I am not sure if that is the same mount, but I have a name and email for a guy in Germany that sells a mount specifically for a Blaser.

PM me if you are interested, but I won't publish it on the open forum without his consent.

The main problem with Blasers is that they do not make enough different caliber barrels. There is always somebody wanting a new barrel in another caliber.
I want a 35 Whelen.
The guys on www.blaserpro.com are champions to deal with.
Also there is a wide diversity of shooting they post about very interesting.
Worth a look if you are interested in Blasers.

Regards,
Bob.

It is true that the Blaser R 93 is not avialable in "every" calibre.

However you can get bbls from 22lr to "Elephant Gun power, including a 28ga bbl.

While I think the 35 Whelen is a great calibre take a look at the 9,3x62.
It is superior, in every way.

LOVE-HATE

One good thing about me not owning an R93 is that it leaves more for those who love them. beer One was enough. Sold it and bought a Sauer 202 and extra bbl. I appreciated the pretty wood, but thought the action was a little gimicky. IMO, the best switch barrel rifle for the money is the Sauer 200/202. Lou

I own several 202s also but the barrels do not switch out nearly as easy or as quickly as a Blaser R93.

True, but I don't change them very often, and I can afford the few extra minutes it takes to change one. What's more, I enjoy spending that quality time with my rifles. Lou Big Grin

I find it handy to have a rifle system that you can throw a 22LR barrel, 222 Rem. Barrel and a 9.3x62 all in one case take a cross country drive and be able to switch out barrels at a moments notice and be ready for whatever game you come across. and never worry about losing your zero.

You can"t do that with a Sauer 202 as the scope is mounted to the reciever rather than the barrel.

I have 6 or 8 Sauer 202s and they are great in their accuracy and craftsmanship but the R93 system works well for me.

When visiters come to the house, I drag out the Sakos,Sauers and the Steyrs but when I go to the woods I am packing a synthetic stocked R93 Proffesional.
