boom stick327 Federal uses same bullet diameter as the 303 Brit. 303 subsonic?
Since the 327 Federal uses the same bullet diameter as the 303 Brit would this not make a cool 303 Subsonic rifle on a 22 Hornet co version?
174 grain hornady bullets at 1,050 FPS easy to silence and factory 327 federal pistol ammo.
Hmmmmm....
Ruger, please make a bolt action 20" barrel 6lb rifle.

enfieldsparesAhhh...
But would the SAME rifling twist pitch be able to stabilise both weights of bullet? The 174 grain and the regular weight bullet used by the 327 Federal?

Farrier MattTo me, a single shot with as light as possible barrel contour, 20-22 inch long, chambered in 327 Fed. Small compact scope, full power 327s for 50 yard head shots on deer, low range 32s with cast bullets for small game. I think it would make a fun little rifle. It would go good with my 32 HR single six too.

HistoricBoreIt sounds like you have just (re)invented the Rook rifle. My two are chambered in 32-20 [same bore size as .303] and shoot a 120 gr. lead bullet at up to 1900 fps comfortably. Good fun!

Already have one of those on BF falling block. Had it since the mid 90's, only it is chambered in .32 H&R. I shoot 115 GC bullets at 2000 fps. Basically duplicating the .30 carbine. I do not use those loads in my Single Six. I seat the bullets oput long enough that they will bind the revolver's cylinder to preclude any unpleasantness in the little single six.
I've loaded plain base 150 or 165 grain lead in it too. It's a hoot, the 1 in 10" twist helps with the heavies.
The .327 would be even better.

TX NimrodFor the longer .312" bullets a 1:10 twist will work better than a 1:12. My .30 Carbine T/C with 1:10 handles 180s fine at 1050 fps, but my .30-30 with 1:12 does not at the same velocity. IME a smaller case like the .32 H&R works better with the heavy bullet/sub-sonic loads, although the .327 would do it.
