i got to the range with this gun it is a fn sporter deluxe built in 1951 as 30-06 and rechambered in 1952 to a 35 Whelen. it came with weaver fixed 4 with 2 cross hairs of the same era, also lyman sight.
i bought Nosler custom ammo loaded with 250 gr partions, i had no idea where this gun would shoot. so i started at the 50yrd range. to my suprise it was 2 in low but centered. i then went to the 100 yrd range it was still 2in low. i made 6 turns on the scope and put 3 in a nice group of 1 1/2 in. i need to shoot it some more to see wher the secound cross hair hits. i bought this gun of gunbroker and was nervous as this was my first internet purchase of any kind. i am very happy. thanks mike

mike61...

That is one hell of a flat - shooting Whelen: 2" low at 50 and 2" low at 100 !
