I noticed on page 5 of Ruger's 2006 catalogue they have the .338 Lapua listed. What model is this chambered in (as the catalogue doesn't seem to clarify) and does anyone know if you can actually buy one?
Danke!

If it isn't a cut above the average Ruger, it isn't worth owning IMHO.

Would have to be the No 1?

It's going to be the RSM.

heh... just cranking tails..

one can buy an average ruger, made last week and compare it to the OTHER american made big manf of CRF rifles...

no.. wait....

what happened to winchester?!?!?

Just kidding ya'll. Please keep bashing rugers, that keeps the prices down for me to use them as doner rifles and make subMOA bigbores on

Won't be a bad gun at all then, if it is the RSM.

It is on the RSM or Ruger Magnum Deluxe rifle.
I have three of them in 375H&H, 458 Lott, and 416 Rigby and standing order for the 338 Lapua. Like someone said, jump all over those Ruger rifles all you want, I buy at cost and it is going to be a long time before someone shows me a better value for a factory rifle. RSM's have excellent blue finish, very nice wood, barrel rib (not soldered, screw attached but part of the barrel itself,) barrel band, quality express sights, can't beat the scope ring set up and all of mine shoot well under 1 moa @ 100 yards. Bolts very slick and feeds all calibers just like they are supposed to do. Only negatives I have would be the recoil pad, or lack thereof, but easy to remedy
with Kick Killer lace up quality leather pad and the less than match grade trigger. Front sight bead a bit on the small side, but replacement at reasonable price from NECG. Those negatives easy to solve and top it all off by sending rings and bottom metal, bolt shroud, plus grip cap to Doug Turnbull and have him do his magic on them and whamo! thing of beauty and top notch performance and oh yes, MADE IN USA!! Cost more than CZ's? You bet and well worth every dime, but to each his own.

I'd consider a RSM in 338 Lapua but the weight will probably put me off. I LOVE my RSMs in 416 Rigby and 458 Lott but want my Lapuas to be a weight of under 9 lbs bare (prefer 8 lb or a lttle more) for big game hunting. I am thinking of a Hein to replace my TRG-S Lapua but am waiting to see how the Ruger offering turns out.

There are those that do, those that dream, and those that only read about it and then post their "expertise" on AR!

I would imagine a 26 inch barrel would be in order. I see on the Ruger website the rsm comes with a 23 inch barrel. A 23 inch barrel on a 338 Lapua makes no sense.
