Not me, but a guy here in England has listed as a pre-64 Winchester NIB "Made in 1991"? Now I thought pre-64 meant made before 1964 and the various shortcut modifications... Educate me please! http://www.guntrader.co.uk/Gun...Sale_121004115039199 Surely this is just a USRAC licensed rifle and not what I would call a "pre-64 action Winchester" in that it is not made by Winchester nor indeed made pre-1964?

You are correct, he is wrong. He must be referring to the classic action which is"...controlled round feed..." like the pre-'64 Jim Kobe 10841 Oxborough Ave So Bloomington MN 55437 952.884.6031 Former Professional member American Custom Gunmakers Guild

Thanks Jim and Dr L. I had not realised that the "Classic" was, in essence a recreation of the controlled round feed that the pre-64 was known for. UK price is equivalent to around $1850 US! The guy is, as we say here, "having a laugh"!

Winchester made some controlled round feed rifles about that time that were called "new pre 64". I had one chambered in 7STW and it was a Mauser styled action. I am sure that is what he is referring to, but not to be confused with a true pre 64. Dennis Life member NRA

I seem to remember the new CRF being touted as "the return of the pre-64 action", but as usual can't find where. . -- Promise me, when I die, don't let my wife sell my guns for what I told I her I paid for them.

He does state it is a Classic, but is also playing people with the "pre=64" reference a bit too much. Not worth the $ i m o. Notice the pad is not fit properly. Kind of plain looking wood. It may be the light, but the bolt knob looks like it has a light rust. Someone may be dumb enough tho. I think, therefore, I am, conservative. Don't let the low post count fool you; I had to re-join after several years of reading the forums.
