the .338 Lapua magnum but heres my problem what manufacutre would you go with.
i am left handed and i would prefer the gun to be a synthetic stainless rifle.
waffen fabrih hien was one of my picks.......mauser waffen was the other but its a wood stock made on there m98 action.

mehulkamdarHein are nice people to talk to. Call them and decide - you have experience ordering custom guns. You will find them good people to talk to.
Cheers!

kaldevassHave you considered 338 RUM ? almost the same performance, but cheaper to reload. Plus it's available from the remington factory.
Of course nothing beats a custom made rifle.
Good luck on your choice.

phurley5700 nitro ----- I own and shoot a Sako that a buddy bought and had a very expensive muzzle brake installed. He couldn't get the accuracy he wanted and sold it to me for a song. It is really something and with tweaking became very accurate. 225 grain North Forks at 3225 fps. My 14 year old grandson (at the time) took his first Elk with it and now claims it and of course someday it will be his. My opinion of Sako rose considerably and the Lapua round and brass is exceptional.

Good luck and good shootig.

Myself I think Remington Rifles are great. I own alot of them but also have some different makes. I own the 338 Rum and like was said I think it would make a good 400 yd rifle but can go farther.

I've build 2 rifles on the 700 action, but mainly due to the availabilty. The 338 RUM cartridge is getting more popular over here, but the Lap mag has it followers.
Your project sounds exciting and I wish you the best of luck with it.
Please post pictures when you are finished.
