Go with the 338-378... No squirrel safe within 1200 yards ... Congrats, I know you'll like it..... Ken....

| Only one problem I see. That Weatherby, especially if it is your first will only make you want another. With a handle like Big Bore Boar, sounds like a .416 to me. CONGRATS on the rifle!!

| Just a reminder that you don't have to pay a fortune for brass. Get a tapered expander ball and some imperial sizing wax and you can neck up the cheaper remington 300 wby brass. The 340 is an awsome caliber!! |

Kraky, thanks for the tip on the rem brass! That Norma brass is wonderful but pricey.

Or you can neck down 375 H&H brass. When fireformed you'll gain a bit of case capacity as well. |

| Hey Guy's I'm just new here but... You just spent really good money on a great gun, don't cheap out on brass, buy new .340 brass, reload it and carry on.
You don't have to be the best shot....Just the last shot.

| I always used WW .375 brass for my 340s. Certainly nothing wrong with factory though. |
