Has anyone seen a 9.3x62mm first hand? I think I might pick one up since I've a bunch of 9.3mm bullets and my 9.3 Ashley(RUM wildcat) is a little too aggressive on the bench.

Have not yet got my hands on the Hawkeye, but "9.3Ashley(Rum wildcat) is a little too aggressive on the bench." Who would'a thunk it?

I don't think anything has been shipped out to the distributors yet. Probably spring before you'd see a 2011.

Brad,
It is a long time that I'm thinking about this wildcat, can you publish some photos of the cartridge and some group?

Jeff, from my understanding an initial shipment went out, to some select dealers. The majority are to start shipping in April.

I will call again and see if anything has changed.

I handled an African in 375Ruger and asked about the 9.3. That same day I compared the Alaskan to the African. Those were both 375's. I also stated, I like the feel of the Alaskan and the looks of the African.

My conclusion after much polite and helpful conversation on the forum, is I might be best served with an African with a bbl cut back 2 inches. No definate plan, just thinking.

I was also interested in handling the CZ550 Kevlar carbine in 9.3 but the odds on seeing one on the shelf around here is very slim and I dont know if those are out and around either.

That clerk did not know about the Ruger offering but i was surprise how much he did know about the x62,x64 and x74 in 93. Obviously, no idea when the new Ruger 9.3 might be available, but, if available, he expected they would eventually try and sell some.

Steve:

I read your post and then realized you are in Italy. The reason I mention this is when I built this wildcat I was told that many Europeans had done this in order to take advantage of the good selection of 9.3mm bullets and to have something that could be used on game in Africa where it is legal to do so. My conversion was quite simple I just necked down a 375 RUM to 9.3mm. I didn't trim, change the case angle or make any other adjustments. the origanl plan was to build the rifle with a Safari profile barrel to give it some weight. I used an inexpensive rem 700 SPS in 300RUM to start with but was talked into a standard barrel contour by pacnor (BIG Mistake). The rifle wieghs less than 8.5lbs fully load with a scope and is very unpleasant to shoot from the bench. Since I have my fingers in a 450 Rigby RSM / MRC PH project right now the 9.3RUM is on the back burner. My plan would be to build up a second rifle using a win 70 CRF action and give it a 25" safari profile barrel. Add a couple of recoil reducers in the buttstock and get the weight up to 10.5-11 lbs fully loaded. Yes that a little heavy but if I want to shoot 250 grn proctiles at 3000fps or better I need some weight to dampen things down. I find the recoil on the 9.3RUM FULL POWER much more unpleasant than my 500 Jeffery or 458 Lott with a full power load. I could try and post a few photo's in the next couple of days. I really like the concept a lot and will still follow through with the project. If you were in the USA I might be tempted to sell everything to you in one big package. Great idea but it definitely needs some refinement.
