Hey all! I just got back from dialing in .338 for elk season which opens on Monday. I have a mostly factory 700 (added brake)--Load was 96.0 grains of H1000; FED215M, REM cases (of course)and 225 TSX-- I have to agree that the TSX is a DRASTIC improvement in accuracy over the other barnes X bullets. The load chronied at 3100 fps +/- 15 and 3 shot groups were consistently around .75"--not bad for a "meat getter"...... Now if the elk will cooperate Monday...... IV minus 300 posts from my total (for all the times I should have just kept my mouth shut......)

I wondered too but it's really complicated and in PDF yet. There is one area open 8-1 for antlerless elk at least. I gave up after that. Why I bothered to look I wonder at. In any case the elk better look out with that cannon aimed at them. Go for it. http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/cms/hunt/rules/bg/elkgen.pdf

How was the copper build up in your barrel using those TSX bullets. I am thinking about using them but don't want a lot of copper build up in my barrel.

Yes, August 1 in units 8 and 8A... Copper build up is minimal (by comparison to the standard X) still need a good scrubbing with CR-10 though.... IV minus 300 posts from my total (for all the times I should have just kept my mouth shut......)
