| I'd have to check a chamber print, but I think the 7-08 has less body taper, and hence you can't re-chamber a 7-08 to .280. But I could be off base.

| Set the bbl. back 1/2" or so & rechamber. Unless it's a #1, most actions though won't allow the longer round.

| You could just rechamber to 7-08AI. That will get you there with bullets up to 140gr, which are ideal for deer in 7mm. |

+1 I have a 284, and it is a very excellent round, equalling a 280 in performance in a short action rifle.

| Yes it can be rechambered to 280. Just run a reamer through it.
