| Stripper clips were very popular on sporting rifles right up until about 1950. The mass production of riflescopes (and gunwriters who promoted them) effectively killed off the stripper clip. I still use them on most of rifles (Brno's and Mannlichers). They are a great way to carry cartridges. |

I wonder if the need, or lack of, is what really drove the market. Other than a 10/22, I only have one rifle that has a detatchable mag, an AR I use for varmints. Even if my 375H&H or 7STW did have a D/M, I doubt that I'd ever find the occasion in which I'd need a stripper clip in the field. I reckon if I was about to get myself ate up by a big bear and already had dumped 4 rounds from the 375 into him, I don't know that I'd be able, or have the time to use a stripper clip anyway. When looking at the option of the bear or 4 more quickies from my light weight 375, it may be more appealing to get chewed on by the bear. ![[Big Grin]](images/icons/grin.gif) |
