Legacy is now selling these barreled actions in both 20" and 24" barrels. http://www.legacysports.com/pr...pecs_baractions.html They are $415.00 and weigh 5.35 lbs. Put one in a JRS Classic for $92.00 and you have one very affordable DGR rifle good for a 1 time bear hunt. Total weight would be 8.25 lbs. without scope. Add another pound and at 9.25.

Not that it matters, but is it push feed or Controlled feed? I'm gonna get one in stainless as soon as I talk to my FFL "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then is not an act, but a habit"--Aristotle (384BC-322BC)

They've been selling those for quite some time now. Never ran into anyone who has actually purchased it. I guess most people figure after adding a stock and such, getting a Ruger is only a tiny bit more. They're push fed If you think every possible niche has been filled already, thank a wildcatter!

Push feed. I see no benefit to CR feed unless turning the rifle upside down. If a person runs into a dangerous situation that somehow the rifle got turned upside down and he was gotten because of that, it was his time to go.

All Howa rifles are push feed and equiped with "three rings of steel" to protect against negative effects of case rupture ot head seperation, should this ever happen: first ring is the bolthead that almost completely encloses the casehead, second ring is formed by the recess in the barrel chamber in which the boldhead is enclosed, the third ring being the receiverhead. I consider this design much more desirable than a controlled feed action where in worst case scenario's gasses can vent back alongside the bolt

I'd love one, but all the magnums are only .620 muz dia. That is "ok" for a 7 mag, but not for a 375 Ruger. Remember, forgivness is easier to get than permission.

Howa is also the same action used by Nosler for their high end custom rifles. $415 for a sound, lightweight barreled action sound like a real deal for most folks looking for a reliable, inexpensive 375 suitable for hunting virtually anything. While in theory I prefer a CRF action - if they are not properly tuned and timed by a gunmaker who knows what he is doing - a good push feed action often works just a reliably in actual practice. I had a hunch the Nosler was Howa yet wasn't sure. The Nosler has milled-out triangle receiver like the Howa Lightweight and the Browning A-Bolt(also Howa) Personally, I prefer the traditional round receiver of the Howa/Vanguard. Looks like a classic Sako in a laminate stock.

even then it's not much help if any at all.....the value in a CRF is if one short strokes the bolt and restrokes he can throw the first round clear of the action.....with a push feed he will jam the gun with two rounds..... Learn to work the action and all is well! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."
