Not sure it has any truth to it, but I read one article saying they were moving to Ilion, NY.

I suspect Marlin is done as a company. Remington has no respect for the brands or heritage of any company it aquires. They purchased H&R and closed the plant and fired all the people. Nothing to do with unions. Just, dont give a crap for nobody. The H&R pump shotguns are now made in China. How is that for no union! I made the mistake of buying a single shot H&R ultra slug made by Reminton in Ilion NY and it broke on the first shot. The bas$#ards had the gall too accuse me of modifying the gun. I should have sued. It been sitting in their shop for weeks, no word. They are not just closing the Marlin plant, thay are FIRING 250 people in the middle or tail end of a recession. They will move the production someplace and probably screw it up. The topper, the dealer, who sold me a Gardner Mass H&R, which I will use while I wait for my NY gun, told me Remington is having QC issues with the 870 pump. You would think they could get that right? Dont even get me started on Model 700 and 7's that go off when you close the bolt. Thats on unmolested guns.

I was told by a Gun Shop owner yesterday, that Remington moved NEF/H&R into the old Ilion Plant last year. According to him there is more room available there and it would be a good fit for Marlin.

There is plenty of room in Gardner in the empty H&R plant maybe they will move Marlin there?
This is the single shot H&R production that moved to NY, not the pump. That is after everyone in Gardner was FIRED. With available space in Ilion and all setup and running line in Gardner MA the H&R pump is now made in China.

Yeh, that's the problem. They don't understand that the economic health of their market and workers is vital to their corporate long term existence. The goal of a company in which I would feel secure investing would be to do both...make SOME money every year AND bolster the ability of their local human community to survive with human dignity intact. Marie Antoinette learned at the cost of her head that you can't just tell the people who are starving for bread to "eat cake" instead. You can only push people so far...governments and corporations need to recognize that for the good of everyone, both them and their bodies politic. Let's hope Remington's upper cheese can do THIS latest acquisition & "consolidation" without acting like a corporate raider.

I hate to see them go but what is the alternative? Go to China or scrap it all. Decreasing demand? No body is buying enough of them apparently. Nothing to keep someone else from buying Marlin? Any offers? When is the last time you bought a Marlin? Those 1894 Cowboys are/were nice. I bought three. ------------------------------- Will Stewart / Once you've been amongst them, there is no such thing as too much gun. --------------------------------------- and, God Bless John Wayne. Maybe you should add unions after the words "governments and corporations". They seem to drive just as many companies into non existence.

Won't argue either way on that subject with anyone... ...will just remind them as a person who spent many years as an industrial labour relations guy, and having negotiated with unions on the International level, there is an old saying in the corporate labour relations field which is: "Corporations get the kinds of unions they deserve." My experience tells me that is true. Companies which treat their employees well generally get treated well. Been there, done that, for most of my life.

Bought an 1894C 357Mag in (will always Rust) Blue and Termite Food 6-days ago. I'd been waiting patiently for one in S&S. The announcement of the move and knowing first-hand what that means to manufacturing, caused me to go on and get one right now. Had just asked the local Gun Shop about one the week before and they had just received the one I got. Still haven't had a chance to run a Bullet through it, but Dry Firing it has already slicked it up. Barely under 6 1/2# with maybe a 5# Trigger(right now) and feels real good in my hands. Nice rifles if you can still find one.

Everyone is always opposed to all that dirty government excess spending UNLESS it goes into their district, then it's good for the economy....... xxxxxxxxxx When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere. NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR. I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

HMMMM, lemme' think this over. Okay, I've got in. FN closed the venerable Winchester plant. It was losing money, in large part because it was producing lousy firearms. Much hopping up and down and arm-waving here on AR and elsewhere, with birthers and other wearers of aluminum foil hats preducting a move to China, or Mexico, or Saturn, or wherever. FN plant in South Carolina, where actual Americans work, is now producing the highest quality M70's ever. Pre-64's no longer measure up. Let's see what happens to Marlin, shall we?
