Good resurrection,

Since my original posting, I have used some 150gr Hornady Sp. I shot a couple of deer, and two hogs. Was fairly impressed with the performance. Just a nice hole, without undue mess. I loaded some up for a friend who shot her elk with that bullet.

I have also used the 130gr Hornady GMX with success.

Going forward my reloading shelf is going to have 130gr TSX/TTSX's, 130gr GMX's, and 140gr BTSP.

My ammo shelf has all the 130's loaded over 60gr H4831SC. The 140's are 58gr. Lately, when I buy a 270, that is all the further I have had to go. Grab my ammo, head to the range and one of them will shoot sub MOA or very close.

In a 270 just going from 130 grains to 150 grains would generally give you tougher bullet. Not sure what weight you already shoot.

Going heavier will slow the velocity down (possibly making smaller wound channels) and increase penetration as well.

For me I like Barnes TSX as they are very forgiving when it comes to bloodshot. I practice with the TSX enough to get a feel for where I want them to hit and then shoot less expensive bullets for range practice. So far it seems to me that you can give them all the speed you can load them to and not expect to have to worry about losing any meat for it.

The .277 Sierra 140gr. HPBT is my choice. A real accurate bullet, tough and reasonable in price.

I saw a few posts supporting accubonds. I shot a few whitetails this year with them and none of the deer dropped (like they normally do with Partitions or Sierra gamekings in 130gr). They didn't result in a blood trail either. SHooting them tight behind the shoulder resulted in a pass through with bullet size exit wound. I think the bullet is too tough for a whitetail. I found them all but didn't want to risk shooting a good buck and something like the above happen. I pulled the remaining bullets and found a load with partitions.
