Remington 700 BDL vs CZ 557 Lux. How do these two rifles compare? They are both push feed, nice walnut stock, open sights, and price is the same. What do you think about them in terms of construction quality, accuracy, reliable operation, etc? Regards.

All CZ's are rough. Remington spends about 30 minutes to build a 700 if that, and they kind of look like it.

CZ uses shit material to blue their guns with, and they look like hell very quickly.

700 will probably shoot with some bedding, and a bit of work to the trigger.

I'd pick the 700 because I am comfortable with them.

Wow! Didn't imagine Remington was that superior in build quality. I'll steer away from the CZ then. Thank you very much.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder I guess. I haven't yet seen the new push feed Brno, but I considered the older models ie up until now, to be superior to the current Remingtons. Many of the guys behind the gun counters agree. The Brnos are a little rough, but if you cycle the bolt a few times they will smooth out. Many of the new remingtons I have handled could only be fixed by sending back to the factory.
the factory.

entirely different guns - I like them both .. though one never hears of bolt handles falling off or accidental discharges due to poor design from the CZ

we should have to compare models to models --

but, the CZ is stocked to allow easy irons and then scoping - when the 700 comes with irons, they are MUCH harder to use..

the remington is an american rifle, and is a GREAT stand gun .. the CZ is more of a stalking hunter style gun

but, just my opinion ..

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately some CZ do have these, although not on the same scale as Remington's. Here are reports of 527 doing that http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=70448.0

Great info everyone, please keep it coming.

Never owned a CZ, so no comments on them. But I have owned about 20 Rem 700s and still have most of them.
I shoot and hunt a lot and have had zero issues with them. They are generally very accurate and reliable. The after market product availability is very large.
There have been some problems with them, like there is with any mass produced products with many million in service.
I bought my latest 700 a few weeks ago and will buy more.

If I was buying a new rifle today and was forced to choose between CZ and Remington.....it'd be a CZ.....any other choices would bring me to the M70 in a very fast pace.....far and away the better rifle.

Among the other choices, mine would be a Weatherby Mark V.

They are about 750-500 more, but I believe they are worth it.

The M700 has the most upgradable features of any rifle on the planet. A m70 has some options, but a 700 rules the roost.

I could personally care less about push feed not push feed.

CZ s I have owned have been great quality. Bluing has been outstanding. I am currently looking to pick up another CZ rim fire. They are tack drivers. I like the older Rem 700's and 721series, but the new ones are rough actions.

Remington 700 all the way for me.
They're simple and most will shoot well right out of the box.
There are so many accessories, tricks and upgrades for that "platform" that it's easy to make them "run".
My 2 cents, as usual,
Zeke

I have not seen nor held a new CZ 557 so I can't speak of their quality. However I do have a CZ 550 and 527 and I am really happy with them.

The last Remington I bought was not the Remington quality I remembered from earlier purchases. I've purchased a few Senderos and find them to be nice but other models are pretty rough. I recently picked up a BDL at a local shop and the action felt just as rough as the SPS sitting next to it. For a little more than $300 more than the entry level I would've expected a smoother action to go along with the High luster finished stock and bluing. They certainly have fallen since Freedom Group took over.

Based on the most recent Reminton 700 I looked at in my local gun shop I would buy the CZ. I own a CZ550 IN 9.3X62 that I really like but in fairness I have yet to seea 557
