I guess some of you are too young to remember when every gun mag had a 270 vs. 30-06 article at least 3 times a year..HUH!! Now its the .308 vs. 30-06! I call it ballistic masturbation and again it makes no sence at all, totally meaningless, under identical circumstances they all do the same thing if you poke the bullet in a good spot or bad spot..

Remember them very well. What also sticks in my mind was I think the magazine was just called Guns and the article on the 165 grain bullet weight coming out and it was Speer.

In Australian magazines you did not get the 270 Vs 30/06 but rather the 243 Vs 270 and also 270 Vs 7mm Remington.

In the 60s and 70s the gun to have in Australia was the Sako 270 and 6X Pecar reticle moving scope. If you had that then you had arrived. Big Grin

Heaps of 270s were rebarreled M17s.
