The 9.3x62 S&B ammo has arrived, but my rifle is out for work. I will get the ammo Saturday and the rifle in a few weeks. Report follows soonest.

I've said it before, but Graf & Sons may team up with Hornady to provide 9.3 US-made components and ammo. Their line of obsolete military ammo and components is doing well, but an email to jeff@grafs.com to prod them about the 9.3 project couldn't hurt.

Good shooting, Okie John.

To get the S&B 9.3x62 ammo, you can also call my dealer, Ben's Loan in Renton, WA. This is one of the better gunshops in the Seattle area. His number is 425-255-3638, ask for Marty. Hope this helps, Okie John.

I have a nice 9.3x62 for sale in classified that was built by Jack Belk and he has it advertised over at HA with photos....It has had a good deal of custom work done on it and would retail at $1500...It is for sale at a lot less...It accidently ended up with a SS barrel on it and that is a Atkinson no no!! so up on the auction block it goes and we build another......it is a real deal...

I almost built a 9.3x64, but I had all the pieces for a 358 NM ( I like it very much). I still may, didnt think the 9.3's were that popular.

Mine is a CZ 550 Lux half-stock in 9.3 x 62. I'm just getting started with this caliber, and was wondering if anyone knows of bullet mold(s) available to service this caliber. I could likely re-work a 35 caliber design or swage down 375's, but since Walt Melander at NEI Handtools passed away a short time ago the availability of uncommon caliber molds has become quite restricted.

Thank you!

Gentlemen,
I made a list of all the original NITRO loaded 9,3.s at the "European big game hunting forum" -but that forum is not very well visited so i make a new reply here:

The 9,3x53R - A necked up Russian 7,62x53R. Popular in Finland?

The 9,3x57 was probably first, introduced maybe before 1900, a good Moose, brown bear, wild boar caliber...

The 9,3x62 Will do everything the 9,3x57 does but also the big five...

The 9,3x63 Introduced sometime between 1902 - 1904. Made on a necked down 10,75x68 case. Almost as powerful as the .375 H&H or the 9,3x64, but was introduced 10 respectively nearly 25 years ahead of them...

The 9,3x64 Very potent but no better than the 20 years older 9,3x63...

The 9,3x65R -the rimmed version of the 9,3x64 Brennecke

The 9,3x66 Well, nice attempt from SAKO of Finland...

The 9,3x70 THE power house, made on a .404 Jeffery case, introduced by DWM around 1920? Hotter than .375 Weatherby...

The 9,3x74R As the 9,3x62 -does everything the other 9,3 does (except 9,3x57) but with lesser recoil.

The choise is up to you!

I own a 9,3x62 Husqvarna 1600 Special, a Miller & Val. Greiss 9,3x63 and a Robert Hbner drilling 9,3x74R 16/16.

I bought some Rhino bullets last autumn while visiting RSA -but i have still not loaded any ammunition...

My drive hunting staple is an FN-Browning o/u in 9,3x74R I acquired 20 years ago. It never failed to put down quickly, if not instantly, anything I got the drop on.

optik do a search on the 9.3X74R. I have posted several things about my experiences with my Chapuis double. It is my favorite rifle bar none in any caliber under .40.
Be very careful about buying a 9.3[x74 or x62] it might make everything else you have obsolete. [Big Grin]

No longer popular. Old-timers there may use it still. A Winchester M 1895 rechambered for this cartridge would be a wonderful drive-hunt gun. It has a Russian cousin, the so-called 9 x 53 R, which however also uses a true 9,3 mm bullet. The Russian cartridge is still going quite strong, though factory loaded to a rather low pressure.

Unduly forgotten, alas. The homonymic older 9,3 x 65 R Collath is more widespread (mostly in combined guns) and far less powerful.

Revived by Harald Wolf, who is to be congratulated.

Best regards and thanks for the list,

I'm glad I found this place, was begining to think I was the only one with a 9.3x62 here in TX. I have tested the Speer bullet it seems OK for our little Whitetails but maybe a little soft for going to Africa. Could ya'll give me your experiences with the other brands that make 9.3 bullets. Nosler and Hawks are next on my list to try. The Hawk bullet is the .035 jacket will try the .050 next if anyone has had good results with it.
Thanks

LIMPINGJ Do a search on my pervious posts on the 9.3X74R [same ballistics as the 9.3X62] I have used Hawk.034jkt, Nosler Partition, Speer,Woodleigh, and some factory loads.
okie john I have used the Barns Solid [before I knew better, not good for double rifles] to kill Turkeys. Now I will use the 286gr Woodleigh Solids.

I fear that I have hardly ever seen a similarly superfluously contrived new cartridge, especially since it was presented by Sako quite some time *after* the introduction of the superb 9,5 x 66 vom Hofe SE (aka .375 Westley-Richards).

Well from my calulations all the 9.3 owners must be on this webb page. I too hath seen the light and have a 9.3 X 64 Brenneke. The rifle is a commercial FN with the full collar in the front ring. (Only a couple years of production before they milled away the left raceway) It has a 22" Heym barrel. The action was trued and the front ring turned behind the recoil lug for more recoil lug surface area. I had it fitted with a PMSmithing 2 position side swing safety. It has bottem metal robbed from a Browning FN Safari. The trigger is from Jaeger and is extremely crisp. The rifle will shoot as good as I can hold it and probably better (under 3/4 inch with 250g Nosler BT's) I have a Wildcat composites fiberglass stock on the rifle in black matte finish and of course a 1" Pachmayer Decelerator recoil pad. The stock is an exact copy of the post war FN wood version which feels great. The rifle is fitted with iron front site and backup NECG rear peep site. The rifle wears a Leupold 1.5X5 VARI X III in matte finish with a German 4a reticle. Ralf Martini (Martini and Hagn out of Cranbrook BC)did the metal work while I stocked it. I built it for my grizzly draw last year but to date have killed 1 moose and 1 mule deer with it.

Cheers from another 9.3 convert.

Alf,

I have faced similar situations. I have a pre-49 Brno 722 (22f) with a 24" barrel and full length stock. It is in 7x64 and deserves a scope. I cannot bring myself to ruin that beautiful receiver ring, so it will get a detachable Jaeger side mount instead. They are slimmer than the Griffin & Howe version.

As for the .30-06 barrel, FN should not have made such a fine European rifle and then chambered it for a US military cartridge. After all, it is not like you are ruining a 7mm or a 9.3 [Smile]

Don`t alter anything, get a 9.3 barrel fitted, add sights, keep the `06 barrel, buy a barrel vise and action wrench and have a switch barrel rifle,You may not ever put the `06 barrel back on(I have 3 extra barrels collecting dust, with my 9.3 on the action)but at least it gives you that option.good luck.

If you want a decent quality you have to pay for it!
Anyway they where cheaper than if I had ordered them from RCBS. AND I got them after 4 weeks (just as Triebel said) and not after 4 months or 7 months or after a year which is common with the companys in the former British Crown Colony...

these rifles in the pictures, boys, are what proper rifles look like. nice going, one and all. i'm selling two of my normal deer rifles in hopes of building up something similar on a mauser action. 't'won't be a 9,3x62, though. that's a little rich for alabama whitetails. i'm thinkin' more along the lines of an 8x57 or .30-'06. hope these pics stay awhile. thanks.
