Savage is making some exceptional rifle's these days. They used to always be a trade off: accuracy in an ugly package. - New Accustock: best designed bedding available IMO - New P.A.D.: recoil pad soft now - Accutrigger: great trigger and safe - Smooth headspace action nut: - ugly bolt release gone - accuracy better than ever

gotta work on accuracy first, get people to by'em, then make enough money to hire a designer.

I have a growing interest in Savage as well. I have never held one but to me it seem they have a lot of good ideas.

A month ago I bought a new model Savage, their Precision Carbine in .223Rem. I spent at least 10 months searching for what I thought would be the most accurate out of the box .223 that would not need after market upgrades. I even bought a new Remington but sold it without firing it after realizing it would need a new stock at minimum. The latest issue of Petersen's Hunting has an article about the Savage Precision Carbine by Wayne van Zwoll. He likes it. Savage rifles are a love of mine. Yes, they are ugly, but they shoot! When I bought my first bolt actuon, I went to a small gun shop in my home town. The guy there knew me a bit, and even though I kept looking at the Remmingtons, he kept putting a Savage in my hand to look at. It took awhile, but he convinced me to buy the Savage, and use the money I saved to "upgrade" it a bit (new scope). It is ugly, but it works!

Yes, the PC was the exact rifle I was thinking about. Went into 7-11 store and browsed that Peterson Zwoll editorial. Very nice weapon. http://www.savagearms.com/10pc.htm

Nothing wrong with having an ugly weapon. Spend less wasted time thinking about them.

I own a couple of Savages now... I am not buying any more of them.... all I am doing is buying more barrels for them and waiting to be able to get a Hogue Rubber stock for them... two short actions.. one with a 223 bolt face and the other with a 308 bolt face... and one stainless 116 action... with a magnum bolt face and a 308 bolt face... pretty much tack drivers.. I have to admit..I would like to get a Savage Predator tho...would probably end up with 3 tho..as I would not be able to make up my mind over a 223....22/250 or 243...or put one together in a 260 for a deer rifle... several companies are now chambering Remington Barrels to use a Savage Barrel nut...that has possibilities..
