boom stick6.8x57 Chinese Mauser history thread
Just wanted to see what you guys might know about the over 100 year old mysterious cart the 6.8x57 Chinese. It seems to be a precursor to the 270 Win. Qual Cart sells brass for it. Does anyone Have dimensional data? I see a schematic on municion.org that gives it a short sub caliber neck. Thanks!

ClassicAlBoom:
The most info I remember seeing is in Vol. 2 of Fred Datig's "Cartidges for Collectors" from 1958. He identifies it as DWM case number 511-A, with the following dimensions:
- bullet dia., .277"
- case neck dia., .309"
- case head dia., .464"
- case rim dia., .465"
- case length, 2.225"
- bullet wt., 139.2 gr.
On the approximately to scale sketch that accompanies the description the neck length is about 6mm.
Cheers, Al

boom stickWhat I find so unique is the short sub caliber neck. Using 6.8 SPC bullets you could fit this in a short action
