boom sticknew 30-tc by hornady. 150 gr @ 3000 in a short action
the new guns and ammo mag talked about the hornady 30 t.c. (which will be unveiled at the shot show) which does 150 gr @ 3000 in a short action (same performance as the 30-06 with 150's)...can someone say...WILDCAT!

aparently it has the same-ish proportions of the 308...even if the numbers are "optimistic"...it should be at least 30-06 performance with mid to light bullets.
aircat dibbs on 358...the 35 version should outperform the 358 win...
just talked to the tight lipped hornady people and they said it is a "more efficient case" to get these magic numbers...(maybe some pixie dust too

)
i wonder it it is just a rimless version of the 308 marlin express

disclaimer... i had to revise original post...it is 150@ 3000 NOT 165@ 3000 as i opriginaly posted...sorry, i went off memory and now have the facts straight but still that is quite amazing!

boom stickno...i had to play the "i cant say"-"i know you cant say but is it_______" game but it is aparently similar to the 308 but a more efficient case and magic powders...there is a pic of it in the new guns and ammo mag.

seafire/B17GDidn't some outfit called Savage, claim that they had a short action round that would equal 30/06 velocities, in a short action, with 150 grain bullets????

Huff.30-.284 Win?

boom stickaparently t.c. is doing bolt rifles now the "icon" and have two new rounds out...the 30 tc and the tc 308

we will hear more in january...
a lot of it has to do with the "progressive burn powders" they are using. the same as the 308 express. my guess is the 308 express and 30 tc or 308 tc will be identicle to the 308 express but higher preasure and no rim and maybe a rim on the 308 tc but higher preasure...are you confused yet

Fish30114Boomstick, I think you're on track with the magic powders statement, as you mentioned the Hornady Light Mag already says 150's at 3000, and I know from experience, it is hard to load a round that will go as fast as a hornady Light Mag load in 130 gr .270 Win. There is someone else who has some proprietary powders that really gives some awesome velocity--I'm having a brain cramp right now and can't recall who, but there are definitely some powders that really perform that we handloaders can't get our hands on (pun intended)
Where did you see about the TC bolt guns--any pics??
Good shooting--Don
