Not sure if this has been tried recently but the old 9.3x70 Magnum that DWM developed back in the late 1920's is essentially a 9.3 RUM. They used the 404 Jeff. case, shortened it slightly, and necked it down. Apparently they experimented with a number of diameters, not just the 9.3.

No, but not a bad idea | |||

I read something about a 9.3Ultramagnum, but few words. it could be interesting bye Stefano Waidmannsheil

..........I,m thinking about a 9.3x338 Rum ......But the 300 RUM would probably be better .....The neck up fron 338 to 9.3 would be an easy one ................Brass would be easier to get for the 300 tho as I really don,t see it being dropped any time soon .... .If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....

probably the best concept I've heard of regarding wildcats. I'd take one. Perfect for big bears! Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my guns

That sounds like a pretty decent idea. You would be able to use it on buffalo where it was legal and you could take advantage of some higher BC bullets for putting the smack down on plains game. I would expect that nearly any of the belted magnum calibers (Win mag, Wby mag, etc) would perform well when necked to 9.3. _____________________________________________________ No safe queens!

Gentlemen I think a 338 - 9.3 RUM would work much better than the 300 - 9.3 RUM I think the MOL of a 300 - 9.3 RUM would come up too long for even the 375 H&H action especially with the ballistically better and heavier 9.3 projectiles on the 300 Ultra case In a single shot I can't see a problem regards S&F

I have experienced much more consistent case lengths and evenness necking down. Why not just neck the 375 RUM down .009"? KISS principle. Rich DRSS Knowledge not shared is knowledge lost...

well, I'm not smart enough to debate what parent case is the most logical to use but the concept is excellent. 375 RUM necked to accept the 9.3...whatever works easiest and best. I think part of the argument for the 300 was availability of brass, and the cost. I'd still take one! Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my guns

I had something like that a while back. It was a 375 dakota necked down to 9.3 Shot very well, 250 Northforks at 3050fps into .242" groups. Sold it to a guy here at ar....WISH I HAD'T " If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. Red Burgundy is the King. Enjoy lots of domestic stuff (for me) as well - Russian River Valley, Sonoma Coast, Willamette Valley, and Santa Barbara are my favorite regions. Like some of the Kiwi and Yarra Valley Pinot's too.

Yeah I've been enjoying some of the 05' Red Burgundies. Wish we could get some of your domestic wines here in Oz; now that our dollar is at 92 of your cents! The few Russian River wines I've had all were crackers The Kiwis have surpassed Oz well and truly! Though some of our wines from the Mornington Peninsula are generally better than Yarra Valley. . ...No Joke .....That is the kind of rifle that you build a spare exactly the same in case you ever some how ever misplace it ,,Like placeing it in the classifieds ...............The 338 RUM does 2900 fps very well with the factory 250 gr Swift A Frame .....I could tell mine wanted to run faster but the bullet casn,t fat enough to turn all that powder into speed ....I think the 9.3 would be pretty execellent , and it would out run the 9.3 Sisk by a fair amount .............If a CZ550 Saf Mag action was used like I plan to , the 375 Rum or 300 RUM length would work fine ........Not that I need it but I would really like another Remington 700 Stainless in 338 RUM .....It was light to pack around and nice and fast ........... With the 9.3 tho it would go 250 fps faster than my Brenneke ......Which would make a very impressive moose rifle ........ECT.. .If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....

Doc, I'll check and see if my barrel maker does a 9.3mm barrel. I'm not sure if he does; it's much more popular in Victoria than NSW. If he does have the tooling for it, I'll build one. A mate has a 358/300 RUM; its deadly accurate. Verbera!, Iugula!, Iugula!!! Blair.

Since most 9.3 bullets would be too soft for the obtainable speeds of the RUM and larger cases, I would think it would be an undesirable cartridge except for monolithic bullets.... don't listen to Ray, he's just trying to decoy us while he orders a reamer and builds the first one. Any two of you want to go in with me and see about reamers from Manson and dies from CH4D? PM me and we'll get going. I have one more Enfield to sacrifice and Krieger makes some really good barrels. Rich DRSS Knowledge not shared is knowledge lost...

My barrel maker here in Oz doesn't do 9.3 barrels......zero demand he reckons Happy to chip in for the reamer (what's the cost of JGS?) and get an export barrel. And I'm happy to use monolithics, especially the Lapua Naturalis Does Bartlein do a 9.3? Which is a better barrel? Them or Krieger? Verbera!, Iugula!, Iugula!!! Blair.
