Hi Guys,
If there were no problems in obtaining reloading material which would you choose;
a Frankonia on a 98 action in 9.3x64
or a BRNO 602 in 375 H&H ?
and Why?

I'd pick the .375, if only because the .366 is not legal everywhere for all game.

I'd choose the .375 H&H because ammo is available many places AND the 9,3x64 does not appear to be legal in Tanzania.

I'm sorry I should have said that I have no plans to go to Africa.
However I do plan to go to Australia where it's my intention to take a crack at water buffalo for which it has been accepted by the guide that I can use a 9.3.

I have rifles in 9,3x62, 9,3x74R, and .375 H&H. If Africa is not on the menu and range is not an issue (few shots at more than 250 yards), I'd choose the one that fit best, is handiest to carry, and pleases the most. The 9,3s are amazingly effective on game so that is not an issue.

I like them both and would ordinarily pick the .375, especially if I could have a shorter .375 such as the .376 Steyr.

In this instance though, I do not care for the Brno 602 action, so I would take the 9.3x64 so I could have the Mauser 98 action instead.

I already have enough components for each to last the rest of my life, so that is not an issue in my case. (bad pun, I know)

Simple, 9,3X64 Brenneke

9,3X64 Brenneke fits in a standard 98 Mauser action, no case with belt and great selection of bullets from 232-320 grains

375 H&H is unnecessarily long for standard mauser, a 602 is much better suited for really big cartridges like 416 Rigby, 450 Rigby rimless or 505 Gibbs etc.

Matching pair in 9,3X64 and 404 Jeffery would be very sweet

In your case i woul go with the great 9,3x64 Brenneke no doubt.

The 9.3x64 is perhaps the most under appreciated, overlooked round in the history of rifledom. IMO, it should have been the basis for the 257 WM through 416 Taylor, as well as a few others. It is the ballistic equal of the 375 H&H (and the 9.3x64 pre-dates the 375 by 2 years or so), except fits into a shorter action, has no belt, and has a larger mag capacity.

In general, and IMO, Brenneke's 7x64, 8x64, and 9.3x64 make an ideal 3-gun battery for hunting the world.

I would and have bought both, but if I only could have one it would be a .375 without a doubt.

do a 375x64 and have a gungasm...better yet the 411 or 416x64 the 411 for pistol bullets with a bullet weight from 170 to 400 gr

A true 375x64 would be the ballistic twin of the 375 Taylor...

I have 100 Speer 270 grain 9.3 bullets and 100 Norma 286 grainers. Belmont of Wanganui sell 9.3x64 cases.
The Speer will do for shooting rabbits and the Norma for deer.
If I get a 9.3x64, when I go across "The Ditch" I'll get a few of those Woodleighs.

I've purchased the 9.3x64.
The balance and handling of the Frankonia is first class. It came with 40 rounds of ammunition, a set of dies and an assortment of bullets not least 18 solids. I'm ready to go.
The BRNO 602 375 in comparison is heavy with dead weight handling.
I shot the 9.3 last night, it weighs with sling and a peep sight 7.75 lbs. The recoil was surprisingly mild for such a big cartridge. Infact my lightweight 30-06 with 180 grain bullets thumps more. The 30-06 has a but plate, the x64 has a recoil pad.
I'm a very happy hunter now where was it I saw that stag?

Man, these are the types of discussions that get me into trouble at home.

I have two commercial mauser actions (Heym and FN) that are just itching to be turned into something.

Buy a 9.3 barrel and get a nice piece of wood. Balance the whole thing out so it carries nice out in the woods.I

Take the 9.3x64mm and be glad that you did! A wonderful cartridge to use anywhere in the world on anything you would like to use it on.
