Has anyone reposted about hunting with the lapua? I have an interest in a sporting rifle version, such as off of a long action Montana.

What action would Remington put this in? If you believe Dan Lilja, the Remington 700 really isn't quite bit enough for this monster. Could this mean a new big Remington action too?

or possibly on a 798 action???

Wasn't Remington coming out with their new Super Ultra Critter Killer series? Maybe this'll be their newest addition to the S.U.C.K.'s line

I can't understand why Remington would come out with a Lapua when they have the 338 RUM witch is faster in a few bullets then the Lapua is.

Well you better take a look at their website it doesn't look like they are making the 338 RUM. Anyway I didn't see one?

They do in the 700 XCR I missed it. But most other models I looked at stopped at 300 RUM or below. Looks like they gave up on their .416 for now?

If one looks in the custom shop he finds many rifles chambered for the 338 RUM and the .375 RUM and the 416 Rem mag.

The one shown is on a laminated stock in .375 RUM for $1,800.......and in the photo the bolt handle is still attached......

When it comes to DG rifles I usually don't think Remington.....but the price is not relevant unless the product is acceptable.....

My post was simply to show that Remington does in fact make rifles for the 338 and .375 RUM.....but only in the custom shop.

For $1800 I'd expect to see a barrel band, iron sights fitting a safari rifle, and a walnut stock with a bit of figure.

Yes the 338 RUM is still listed for the Model 700 XCR rifle. Just follow the link that was attached above.

I have an engineer/gunsmith friend that might have some info on Remington. You know that R&D for Remington is now headquartered in Elizabethtown, KY, just south of Fort Knox. Strange, eh?

I went to their site and did not see the Lapua listed anywhere. But did see the 338 RUM and the 416 Rem.

Go under Site Search at the top of the website and type in .338 Lapua and it'll pull up the 2006 product catalog, it's like the 6th page on the catalog. It's on the Magnum platform. I think I like it!
