Well, I finally did the unthinkable; purchasing a hunting rifle with a synthetic stock (not to mention a camouflaged stock). It is the Browning X-Bolt Hell’s Canyon Speed in 7mm Rem Mag. I’m going to mount a Zeiss Conquest 3x9x40 and see how this real beauty shoots. I’m really torn about Ammo as I want to stick to factory ammo I hope. Will probably try 160gr as an overall bullet for what I will shoot with rifle. Check it out on the Browning website. It’s really cool! A Blasphemous purchase. No pretty wood. Agreed, but they are accurate and that Burnt Bronze Cerakote color is really attractive. Post results when you get it shot and sighted! _____________________________________________________ No safe queens!

I couldn't resist. I found another one, this one a Browning X-Bolt Stalker Long Range in .22-250. This one is rare, only 250 produced I believe. Looking forward to sighting both n next week. This week's hunt will be with the Rigby styled Mauser on .300 H&H. It shoots those 200gr Sierras into a nice clverleaf at 100. Need a nice bear to show its face. Browning X Bolts are pretty damn accurate out of the box; at least the two I have owned.

That particular variation is interesting to me because it has a 1/9" twist, rather than the usual 1/14" twist usually found for the 22-250. At least that's what the web site says. It would be fun to do some longer range shooting with heavier bullets in that rifle. Let us know how it shoots.

I’ll be sighting in both rifles in a couple weeks. Waiting on a scope and will do some Duracoat dress-up before sighting in. I’ll need help to get pictures posted. These are real beauts. I love the tang safeties, 60 degree short throw bolt, muzzle breaks, and really efficient butt pads. Excited. There was an article about the X-Bolt a couple of months ago that described the development of the rifle. If you google this is comes up: The Browning X-Bolt Rifle—10 Years Later by Jeff Johnston - Monday, October 15, 2018

Great article there in American Rifleman. I’m so impressed with these rifles. Although different in styles and weight and looks, I compare the X-Bolt in quality and performance with a Steyr Mannlicher or a Sauer 202.
