I had to do it..
Today I ordered one of the new Lipskys Ruger #1 lightweights in 250-3000! Of course I did, I love the gun and the caliber..Killed a truck load of game with the little 250 Savage..

Boy those dudes over on that other blog are lost! this special run have 24 inch barrels and pretty much clone every 1-A model out there other than that 2"s of barrel extra..and yes the 250-3000 was born in 1912, and yes it was the firs round to break the 3000 yard barrier, and yes it had to shoot the 87 gr. bullet to do so. and yes its one if not the most accurate caliber Ive ever delt with over all as Ive never owned a 250 that wouldn't shoot an inch or better, and I been shooting it since 1940 something best I recall, maybe 49 or there abouts. It was my first real big bore, I used a cowboys med bore prior to this the 25-35! Smiler used the 250 on elk, deer, black bear, sheep, and PG in Africa. When this one popped up nostalgia soaked me up! had to have it.

Boom Stick,

Twist is 1 in 10”. Mine weighs 8lb 4oz with at Leupold 1-4 mounted in Alaska Arms rings. The article you linked to is not the same one. The present model available through Lipseys is blued, not stainless, and has a bit longer barrel.

As to where, I had to order one in. Quite possibly from the same dealer as Ray, since I only live a couple towns over from him.

Sounds like an old time reunion.

Congrats on getting a rifle/caliber of your youth with all of the attendant memories! tu2

Weeble,
Reds sporting gds, Twin Falls..

Yes this one is for dad, long past now, who used the 25/35 and later the 250 Savage to shoot at least 50 plus elk and who knows how many deer..The worst shot and the best hunter Ive ever known..He knew he couldn't shoot, so he snuck up beside them, he is the only man I ever knew who could sneak up to 25 or 50 yards of an elk or deer and he never bothered to take his spurs off!! He could also sleep on a rock or deer stand, and when a deer showed up he would wake up and shoot it..go figure on that one. rotflmo
