| I am a little suprised that i am the only guy here taking a 45/70. I realize I might get prety pissed if I see a bull at 350 yards, but I can take one a 200, I will have a back up with more range...tj3006

| Aw heck lets, not fool around.. Elk are hard to kill.... Make that a 50 Caliber, open sites, with a 120 mm gun turrent mounted on a surplus M1 Abrams as backup or for those long shots... Remember as Elmer Keith said.. "Use enough Gun!" |

I know Mike Bellm as we live in the Same town.. I ran into him today over at the post office... He was telling me that he just mailed off a customers Contender barrel chambered in 375 H & H!!!!!
I'm sure he meant "Encore", not Contender. There is NO way that Mike would chamber the .375 H&H in a Contender barrel. That said, how much fun can it be to touch that one off even in an Encore with a 14 or 16 inch barrel? I'll bet that one had a muzzle brake on it, as Mike test fires everything he sends out and I believe I understood him to say that he wouldn't test fire some of those calibers without a brake. Thanks for the encouragement. If I get the barrel back in time, that will be great. I was close enough (@ 100 yards) last year to my cow that I could have shot her with a handgun, but things were happening kind of fast. | If I ever had a chance to hunt elk, which isnt going to happen here in ND, I would use my Tikka 338WM with either 210 partitions or TSX. |

| No doubt about it. I'm going back to the BOB and I'll be packing my 700 Rem. Classic .35 Whelen w/ 1.75 X 6 Leupold VXIII. The load is 250 grain Nosler Partitions in front of 59.5 grains RL 15. Averages 2,525 fps and shoots into an inch consistantly. It's accounted for 3 elk and 2 moose. Rich Elliott

| My son will carry his favorite all-around rifle, a Sako L61-R Deluxe .30-06 loaded with 180 grain Nosler Partitions at nearly 2800 fps. He killed a nice bull with it last year.
I'll take a Sako TRGs .338 Win loaded with 225 grain Nosler Partitions at 2900 fps. Someone GAVE me a box of these, which turned out to be the new ones WITHOUT the cannelure, and they shoot much better in my gun than the "old" new-style .338's with the crimping recess. Otherwise, I would have taken a Sako L61R .300 Win with 180 NP's at 3050 fps. |

| This year I am taking my Ruger 77 .338 WM using DoubleTap's loading of a 250gr. Partition Gold @ 2750fps. I was able to shoot a .92" three shot group at 100yds. That is unbelieveable with this rifle. If I place it right, then it is meat in the pot. |

| Forgot to mention that my brother will be heading out with his Rem 700 .35Whelen using 250gr. Grand Slams @ 2600fps. Like I already said: Meat in the pot. |

| A hot loaded custom 8x57 launching 180 TSX's 2.5x8 VX3 on top of it. Backed up by a Sako 75 .270WSM launching 140 TSX's at a bit better than 3200 3.5x10 VX3 on that one. |
