I so LOVE mine (same as yours). BUT my go-to 06 is an AI and I've had a Zeiss Conquest 2.5x10x44 on it. Ya, it's too big but I shoot a lot from the bench (over 1k rounds in 4 years). Just never got around to changing it. did great getting bounced around truck and ATV's on a NWT black bear hunt. I may never remove it! popcorn

VXII 3x9. Used to have the FXII 4x but the 3 x 9 fits the rifle better in regards to the eye relief. The 4x will go on a 7x57 hopefully soon

I have no info on the scope but know the rifle was a closet queen for at least 50 years. Maybe one or more of you gunners could fill me in with history or such. beerroger

Roger -

Fire up your web browser and go here for a brief history...about the 4th or 5th post down on the page.

www.24hourcampfire.com/...php/...VINTAGE_WEAVER_SCOPE

I have one of those too. Have had it at least 50 years, and used it on at least 10 different rifles. Still works fine. Mine is the early non-permacentered reticule design...

If the above link doesn't work, google "weaver KV scope" and you'll find about the 4th or 5th hit on the page will take you there.

I think I've always had an '06 of some type for about 40 years. I've topped these rifles with a number of different scopes but I'm very happen with the 1" Swarovski 3.5x10 that sits on my current '06. With modern factory loads, powders and bullets an '06 can easily reach out to 400 yards where the larger scope really shines.

One has a old Leupold VX II 3-9

And the old Garand has military iron sights on it.

Main hunting rifle has a Swaro rail mounted 3-12x50 w/Ill Dot, good for nighttime hunting.

Others have been known to wear Dr Optic Red Dots at times and or Leupy 1.5-6x34, for drive hunts.

So kinda depends on the application one has in mind, Waidmannsheil, Dom.

Hiya,

My Browning Medallion southpaw is getting new glass on it. It will be wearing a Redfield Revolution 3 x 9 40mm here in the very near future. I have had a Bushnell Trophy 3 x 9 on it for many years as that scope was a gift from my father. But...I have noticed the glass is blurry (it's a 23 year old scope) as compared, so it was time to change it out.
