If you're happy with a plain ol' black stocked "controlled round push feed" rifle, your best bet would probably be Wal-Mart. If you want one of the nicer models, any of the gun shops in a bigger town will have a nice selection of Winchesters and Brownings for sure, and maybe some of the new offerings - Tikka, Savage, Kimber. Lots of good places to buy rifles here.

For value, the 300 WSM in a Savage hunter is hard to beat. Ask your dealer if he can get one for around $385 and if not, ask another dealer. You'll get one and it will drive tacks right out of the box. I have one and it caused me to sell a 270 and a 300 Win Mag which I no longer need.

Savage also sells a rifle chambered in the Lazzeroni Patriot (30-caliber) which will give you another 200 fps with a 180gr bullet....once you buy the brass the cost of loading will be the same....take a look at www.lazzeroni.com

Picked up a 300 WSM Savage rifle package (scope included) at Walmart..Pulled scope and installed a Leopuld.. Rifle not beautiful--but out of the box--a real keeper...
