Marlins new rifle:
Looks very similar to a Savage, alittle better looking stock. Maybe a good purchase for budget minded hunters:

Marlin introduces the next generation of hunting rifle – the X-Series Bolt Action

North Haven, CT - Marlin Firearms has added centerfire bolt action rifles to its product lineup. The first model in the new series is the XL7, a standard long action rifle available in black synthetic or Realtree® APG-HD camo and will be available in three calibers, .30-06 Spg., .270 Win., and .25-06 Rem.

Made with the latest in rifle design and technology, the XL7 has modern yet practical features that matter to practical hunters. Features like Marlin’s new Pro-Fire™ accuracy enhancing trigger, the new Marlin Soft-Tech™ recoil pad, a lightweight pillar bedded synthetic stock and more.

The innovative Pro-Fireâ„¢ trigger system is user adjustable, virtually creep free and can be set to break at a crisp 2 1/2 lbs. An in-house Marlin design, the Pro-Fireâ„¢ trigger release prevents movement of the trigger until it is depressed.

The Soft-Techâ„¢ recoil pad significantly reduces felt recoil, making the XL7 much easier and more pleasant to shoot than other rifles in its class.

Other notable features on the XL7 include: A fluted bolt for an exceptionally smooth action, steel sling swivel studs that will not break or degrade over time, pillar bedding for consistent accuracy, a synthetic stock available in black or Realtree® All Purpose Green HD, high polished blued steel, checkered bolt handle, recessed barrel crown, and classic American style checkering molded into the lightweight synthetic stock.

The rifles will have an MSRP of $326.00 for the black synthetic model, and $356.00 for the camouflaged model.

That is pretty cheap. I hope they are a success. Their competition is pretty much all foreign made. Probably steal sales from parent company Remington's 798.

Several years ago Marlin introduced a bolt action witha M-70 safety, Remington style breach, and Browning type clip magazine.....While it should have been an instant success, it flopped faster than a politician promising to rise taxes!!!

I hope this gun is better!

I hate hearing stories like that... What was the reason? Quality? fit? accuracy?

The only thing I like about it that it's chambered in 25-06. I'll pass. Lou

The finest bolt action rifle ever offered by Marlin was the model 455, built between 1957-1959 on FN Deluxe commercial Mauser actions with Sako adjustable triggers, stainless microgroove barrels, 30-06 & 308, some fitted with Lyman 48 receiver sights. Alas, not many were made.

6.5#, in 25-06, 2706 and 30-06? should displace the rem fugly 710, and might raise an eyebrow or two...

and, unlike the 710, its headspaced off a barrel nut, which means it can be rebarreled..

still a pushfeed, but not bad looking
