Corey,
If you think the 35 Whelen is better than the 9.3x62, you need to take two aspirin and a nap! your delusional..close maybe but no CEEEGAR. a 286 GR NOSLER OR wOODLEIGH AT 2525 fps IS BEST. a 300 GR. Woodleigh is even better, even a 250 gr. bullet at 2700 plus or minus beats the 35 Whelen..A 220 gr. 30-06 is about as good as a 35 Whelen for that matter in the field anyway. Why is it so hard for your to figure out the case that holds the most powder and shoots the heaviest bullet is the winner in all cases....

For African game yes, but not for moose and elk.

An accurate 180-200 grain monometal from a 30-06 or or Whelen @ 2800 fps is more than adequate to 400 yards in light wind. Barnes makes the 250 grain TTSX and I would only choose the 9.3 over the Whelen for grizzly.

180-200 grain monometals are heavy enough for moose and elk at 2800 fps.

What Barnes should have done was make a 225 grain TTSX for the 9.3 then we could compare apples to apples with the 225 grain Whelen TSX.

0.008" of an inch greater frontal area in the 9.3 makes no difference. Essentially they are the same gun using the same case.

200-225grain bullets for moose and elk
286-300 grain for buffalo.

Monometals also cancel all arguments that the 30-06 requires 220 gr projectiles to hunt bull species in North America. Again for grizzly the 200 and up Partitions would be wise to load for the 30-06 but not required for NA bulls.

If I were consistently hunting in dangerous bear country and was stubborn enough to only carry a 30-06 (because muzzle brakes do exist now) I would load the 200 grain Partition and have both adequate muzzle velocity for a 400 shot and peace of mind against grizzly.

Reality is that both the 9.3 and 35 Whelen are both limited to 400 yards with bullets in the 225-250 grain range.
Where exactly are you shooting a 300 grain Woodleigh these days? Africa? Alaska? Montana?

If I were an Alaskan guide and needed low recoil and quick follow up shots the 9.3 would be best. Even then I would still only reload the 250 TTSX.

In Saskatchewan where I live with the open prairie fields and southern sand hills, the 338 Winchester Magnum is the best between the Whelen and 9.3, 500 yard shot, no problem. But then where does the 358 Norma Magnum come into effect? With a muzzle brake the 358 shoots like a 30-06 and blows a bigger hole in game than the 338 Winchester Magnum?

I see Ray you are a fan of four calibers: 7x57, 30-06, 338 WM and the 9.3

I will say this, if ammunition was available everywhere for the 358 Norma Magnum that would be my choice with a brake and not the 340 Weatherby. 0.358" is a lot of frontal area.

The 9.3 and 35 Whelen are the same gun for NA species.

You and other trolls have taunted me to debate or argue but reality is I am living in the seventies, peace. donttroll

24/7/365 ... for some people self-medication is a way of life. Only the type of med varies.

Good to hear he's on his meds though, rather than off .... cuckoo

Considering Canada is fully legalizing cannabis this year or next, and many states will follow Washington and Colorado, I will be accepted as a pot smoker in ten years.

Reality is I use my cannabis to treat anxiety with CBD.

If I get put on an ignore from Ray that is disappointing, oh well. They get bored the next few months and read my posts again.

No, I don't want to push the slide action that much. 65,000 psi velocity only. Plus I am shooting from only a 22" barrel.

I shoot more at 400 yards than I do at 200 or 300.

Without boasting, I studied one year pre-med at the University of Saskatchewan wanting to become a G. P. MD

I studied physics, biology, chemistry, English, anthropology and psychology.

On June 30th, 2013, I shot myself in the forehead with a 12 gauge shotgun, direct contact. I had my Dad's Ithaca model 37 featherweight 3" and loaded it with some Winchester heavy lead #2, 23/4"

The blast blew a hole in my skull exactly 18.5mm, then stopped at my brain. My head flew back and the lead shot flew into the wall behind me in a horizontal fan pattern.

My head immediately started gushing blood and I dug my face into the pillow and thought I was bleeding out to death. I passed out then woke up and stood up.

I was alive and felt energy. I walked out of my house and got into my Dodge truck. I looked at my forehead in the rear view mirror and saw the hole in my skull and the 3/4" gash that was ripped in my forehead from above the eyebrows to the hairline.

A 12 gauge 1 1/8 ounce shot weighs 492 grains @ 1255 fps, well, you do the math.

I was airlifted by STARS helicopter from Humboldt Saskatchewan hospital to Royal University hospital in Saskatoon. I underwent surgery and they installed a titanium mesh in my forehead. And 18 huge stitches.

I was eating raw beef and raw eggs in the hospital brought by my family to heel the bone and flesh and it worked perfect. Five years later you can hardly see the scar, and if I wear a ball cap, you can't see the scar at all.

The reason I attempted suicide was because I got into a few arguments with my brothers on how we should be farming. I was forced by a judge to see a psychiatrist and was placed on a monthly depot injection of an antipsychotic tranquilizer called piportal. And also 15mg of olanzapine pills.

After taking the pills for a few months I felt tired and stricken so I stopped taking them. 3 days later I attempted.

Olanzapine and it's toxic effects are suicidal ideation and extreme thyroid suppression. That is why all the second generation antipsychotic's such as Zyprexa, Seroquil and Risperidone cause such horrible weight gain, cause elevated bad cholesterol, elevated triglycerides and depression.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Don't show this picture to your wives or kids.

My guess is thousands have been killed with a 30-30 over the years. They do make a partition for the 30-30 also, if you want to continue using it.
