Problem with Ruger and Scope Mounting

I just received a Ruger RSI and cannot even get the thing on paper. Using some measuring tools, I notice that there is a .15 inch difference between the front and rear of the receiver. Therefore, the rings should be different: one should be .15 inches shorter than the other. Both of mine are the same. This distance is too much to shim.

Anyone else ever seen this problem?

It sounds as if you are attempting to use scope rings intended for the Ruger #1 rifle, which does require two rings of the same height.

If these are the rings which were originally shipped with the rifle, I am sure that Ruger will be sure to get you the proper rings for your application.

I have known of several occasions in which Ruger cheerfully furnished a new set of rings to an individual who needed a different height ring set than originally furnished with the rifle. This was done free of charge, they only asked for the unacceptable ring set to be returned in exchange. Below is the URL for the page listing their scope mounting systems.

Hey Thanks Idaho.

I looked at the link you provided, and you can see with your naked eye that the rings have different heights.

I will call Ruger in the am.

Thanks again.

Ruger said I got the wrong rings and are sending me some overnight to arrive today. Didn't ask for the old ones back either.

IF you don't have to send the wrong ones back, hang onto them and get yourself a No.1!!

No Kidding. If I had the wife most of you guys seem to have, I might have to try that trick. But I don't.

The NO. 1 needs no help.

Ruger IMO has the best Customer Service in the business. They will bend over backwards to keep their customers happy and loyal.

I have not experienced the backward bend but can confirm that Ruger's customer care is indeed first class.
